A police officer is being investigated after a horrific video surfaced on YouTube of him fiercely pushing over a 15-year-old girl against a wall and to the ground. The teenager appears to pose no threat at all to cop Patrick Larrison, but is seen walking away from an incident scene when he suddenly runs up and violently slams her to the floor in Phoenix, Arizona. The video shows Officer Larrison running after the allegedly drunk teenager after she was kicked out of her school. She is walking slowly before being taken out, handcuffed and led away.

The 10-year-old girl who video-recorded her rapist using a mobile phone as he coerced her into a sexual act about two years ago can best be described as empowerment at its best. Rape on minors has always posed a headache for the justice delivery system because vital evidence is sometimes lost as children tend to forget what exactly would have transpired. The sad reality, however, is that young girls have been infected with HIV through rape and this has created a serious problem in families as they try to come to terms with such cases.

VIRGINIA–The girl, aged between six and seven, was so hungry that when found her she was eating the flaky skin of her forehead. She was covered in bed sores and her own faeces and is feared to have been kept in a cage for months. Brian and Shannon Gore face first degree murder charges stemming from the grisly find. Police made the startling discovery of the remains of a second child when they dug under a trailer home. They have already been charged with the attempted murder of their daughter who was found barely alive in a darkened room.

It is every parent’s, or in this case grandparent’s, nightmare. Your 11-year-old goes missing—and stays missing for nearly a week. Eventually the child is returned, which is all to the good, though hardly unharmed, which is not. Such was the case seven months ago for a prepubescent female who was lured from the Bronx home she shared with her grandmother. The child thankfully survived. However, it was when she managed to escape that the horrors began. She revealed, hesitantly at first, that for the duration of her capture, she was forced to perform sexual acts on depraved men in a Lower East Side apartment.

The first photograph showed a beautiful baby girl, healthy and smiling. The second, taken two weeks later, showed her dead in a morgue, her mouth open and bruising across much of the left side of her face. On Thursday, the girl’s father, Joseph A. Urquia, pleaded guilty to beating her to death on Dec. 19 at their Easton home, admitting he punched her “at least twice” in the head because she wouldn’t stop crying.

SMYRNA, TN — The director of a local daycare was arrested and fired after police say she abused a 4-year-old child. Meg’s Playhouse Director Kim Rife, 32, was arrested on April 22 for aggravated child abuse, a felony, and was released on a $25,000 bond, police said. The daycare’s owner, Debbie Reyes, said Rife was fired immediately after she was arrested.

Over the past decade, more and more attention has been given to the issues associated with “at-risk youth” including youth crime, violence, sex, substance abuse, poor academic performance, etc. Research shows that at-risk youth struggle with complex issues and scenarios that are brought on by peers, mentors, family members, and difficult social environments. The increased complexity of today’s at-risk youth has forced parents and federal agencies to work together to find solutions. There has been growing interest in community-based efforts that help to educate and direct at-risk youth and families to a variety of helpful services. This is evident by the recent support of at-risk youth programs or initiatives by federal agencies such as the OJJDP (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention). The OJJDP has recently joined with other federal agencies to help bring about the SafeFutures initiative and the Children at Risk initiative.

As you probably guessed from the name of this site, its focus is upon educators accused of behaving badly and in various and sundry ways, usually criminal in nature. Hardly a day goes by that the news media is not reporting on yet another teacher school employee run amok and often students are victimized in the process. Illinois—- A Chenoa man was arrested after an investigation into the death of a 3-year-old girl. David Gharrett, 23, is facing charges after an autopsy indicated that the child died of multiple blunt force injuries to her head and abdomen.
Destiny Marie Cox was taken by life-flight to the Children’s Hospital in Peoria on April 29th. She died later that night.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested Thursday morning after he walked into an Orange County home and stripped naked in front of a 15-year-old boy, deputies said. Richard Pfaender has undergone a psychological evaluation at the jail and has been cleared to make his first court appearance at 1:30pm on Thursday.Investigators said he allegedly staked out the apartment on Orange Blossom Trail and 39th Street for hours, before making his move.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — Two teens in a group charged with bullying a newcomer to their school who committed suicide last year, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to lesser charges in a deal expected to erase more serious allegations.
The deal was expected for all five Massachusetts teens criminally charged with bullying Phoebe Prince with insults, physical threats and aggressive use of Facebook and texting.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man convicted of the beating death of his girlfriend’s toddler son was sentenced Wednesday to 31 years to life in state prison. Hector Ernest Jr. was charged with the death of 2-year-old Deandre G., who died March 20, 2010, as a result of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

UTAH–A former Orem police officer, who has been convicted twice on charges of sexually abusing children, was sentenced a third time Tuesday on one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. John Phillip Weatherly, 68, pleaded guilty March 22 to the first-degree felony charge and was sentenced to five years to life in prison Tuesday by 4th District Court Judge Steven L. Hansen.
