GARY, Ind. — More than 13 people might have known of abuse endured by a Gary boy before his death but most said nothing to authorities, a published report said Sunday. Only one person claims to have taken her concerns about Christian Choate to legal authorities, The Times of Munster reported, citing its own review of Indiana Department of Child Services records.

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. — A South Jersey babysitter has been charged with the death of a little girl under her care, a little girl who died last night. It happened in a house in Gloucester City. Two year old Madeline McHenry was in the care of a babysitter; a babysitter who came with references and a resume, a babysitter who is now charged with murder. “I don’t know what was going through her mind or how she could pick her up and shake her and throw her across the room and kill my little girl,” said Dan McHenry.

SANTA ANA — Police in Santa Ana say they have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the “suspicious” death of an 18-month-girl. Officers arrested Juan Carlos Aguilar, of Santa Ana, and booked him at the Santa Ana Jail, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Steve Colon. A staffer at Coastal Community Hospital called police about noon Saturday regarding the suspicious death of the toddler, Colon said. The girl was unconscious and not breathing when her 21-year-old mother brought her to the hospital.

As 14-year-old Jaycee Dugard struggled in a crude backyard shed to deliver her baby daughter, the serial predator who had abducted and raped her stepped in to unwrap the umbilical cord that trapped the infant. “She was beautiful,” Dugard said of the child she birthed three years into her captivity in Northern California. “I felt like I wasn’t alone anymore. I knew I could never let anything happen to her.”

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of child and caregiver participation in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of sexually abused children with posttraumatic stress symptoms. Method: Thirty-six sexually abused children (aged 5-17 years) were randomly assigned to a child-alone cognitive-behavioral treatment condition, a family cognitive-behavioral treatment condition, or a waiting-list control condition. Results: Compared with controls, children who received treatment exhibited significant improvements in posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms and self-reports of fear and anxiety. Significant improvements also occurred in relation to parent-completed measures and clinician ratings of global functioning. In general, parental involvement did not improve the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Maintenance of improvement was evident at a 12-week follow-up assessment. Friday afternoon a Milton man was arrested following a family disturbance on Phoenix Dr. in Milton. Jeremy Alexander Davidson, 21, was arrested and charged with felony child abuse and domestic violence involving battery. Alexander is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond. According to Sgt. Scott Haines, with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a family disturbance and discovered Davidson standing in the front yard.

Kearns resident Antoneus Deslegte, 24, was charged with five second-degree felonies for child abuse Friday. Deslegte is accused of severely beating his 7-month-old twins, a boy and a girl. The daughter was admitted to Primary Children’s Medical Center on June 19 for a large cut and bruise near her eye, police records stated. After arriving in the emergency room, she was given a full set of X-rays, which revealed a fractured bone in her leg.

MICHIGAN–An infant boy just under two years old is in Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit with serious burns, bruises and other injuries that police said were caused by a babysitter.The babysitter — a 24-year-old woman from Auburn Hills, being held in the Oakland County Jail — has not been identified by police pending the issuance of child-abuse charges expected today, Auburn Hills Lt. Jim Manning said.

A Tuscaloosa woman has been charged with aggravated child abuse in connection with the death of her infant daughter in September. Leslie Ashcraft Essman, 30, was charged Wednesday with two counts of aggravated child abuse. Essman’s 6-week-old daughter died after being left unattended for more than 12 hours, said Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit commander Capt. Loyd Baker. Essman was sleeping during much of that time, he said.

Caylee’s Law: Contact your State Senators and Representatives. There should be a new law created called Caylee’s Law that will make it a felony for a parent or guardian to not notify law enforcement of a child going missing in a timely manner. Let’s keep another case like Caylee Anthony out of the courts.

Across the country many are furious with the Casey Anthony verdict and believe justice wasn’t served for her 2-year-old daughter Caylee. “People who are angry and upset need to pick up the phone and call casa or call the children’s advocacy centers,” said Alicia Gracia the Executive Director at CASA. “And say how can I help these children now.” CASA is a group of special advocates who volunteer their time to children in cases of abuse or neglect.

CARLSBAD — A 19-year-old father has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being found guilty of child abuse involving his infant daughter. In a two-day jury trial in Fifth Judicial District Court in May, jurors found Arthur “Trey” McClintock III guilty of child abuse – intentional and resulting in great bodily harm.

NEW YORK — Kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard, held captive for 18 years, is sharing her story for the first time, saying giving birth at age 14 was “very painful” and frightening. “I didn’t know I was in labor,” Dugard, now 31, tells ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in an exclusive, two-hour interview set to air on Sunday’s Primetime.

RIVERSIDE — A 73-year-old former Riverside detective has been arrested Friday for allegedly molesting a 7-year-old. Granville Douglas Kelley, Jr., 73, is suspected of molesting a 7-year-old in 2003. He was arrested at his home on the 10800 block of Endicott Drive in La Sierra, police said.
