A Filipino teen has become the victim of a horrifying, allegedly homophobia-fueled attack by his own father. The Philippine LGBT Hate Crime Watch (PLHCW) is now demanding justice for 19-year-old Edmund Padilla, who allegedly suffered severe burns after his father Erano scalded him with boiling water. Erano, who has since been detained and was reportedly drunk at the time of the attack, told authorities he committed the crime after Edmund turned out to be the third of his children who identified as gay.

GLENDALE, AZ -A Glendale man’s son called police after he found a memory card containing videos of his father allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old girl, Glendale police said. Jose Alfredo Rivera was booked into jail New Year’s Eve on one count of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of sexual exploitation with a minor. Police said one video showed Rivera telling the girl to undress. A second is of him raping her, officers said.

A teenager has become the youngest person in the U.S. to escape a murder charge under a controversial ‘stand your ground’ law. A judge ruled that Jorge Saavedra, 15, was in danger from the older boy and acted in self-defence when he stabbed Dylan Nuno to death. Saavedra, who was 14 at the time, stabbed his attacker 12 times with a pocket knife he had been carrying in Naples, Florida.

NEW CASTLE — Thanks to the efforts of William R. Cramer, a 7-year-old New Castle boy likely will never forget Christmas 2011. But be advised this is anything but a feel-good holiday story. Cramer, a 37-year-old felon, was arrested on Christmas Eve after authorities determined he had beaten the youngster with a belt after finding the boy trying to sneak a peek at Christmas gifts.

NEW DORP, STATEN ISLAND, NY–Amanda Cummings, 15, a Staten Island high school sophomore who committed suicide, clearly indicated on Facebook weeks beforehand that she was contemplating taking her life, possibly because of bullying at her school . Intimidating postings on Cummings’s social media page from others may have also been part of the cause for her suicide, and now that she has passed away, the same page on which she posted her contemplations of suicide is the same place where dozens of friends, family members and well wishers are leaving messages of loving support.

CHICAGO — A 13-year-old girl who allegedly left her newborn son in a trash container behind her Country Club Hills apartment complex has been released from the hospital, and police and prosecutors are awaiting autopsy results as they consider charges against the young mother, Police Chief William Brown said. Police and paramedics found the 4-pound, 2-ounce body of a newborn boy Sunday night in the 17900 block of Huntleigh Court in the southwest suburb.

BROWNSVILLE — Police shot and killed an armed teenage student in his Texas school hallway on Wednesday. Brownsville police Detective J.J. Trevino said police received a call at about 8 a.m. that someone had a weapon at Cummings Middle School. Police found the 15-year-old with a handgun in a hallway and shot him, Trevino said.

West Virginia State Police say they have taken a father and his girlfriend into custody after a child was found with head trauma and scars all over his body. The father of a three-year-old child told a trooper that he called 911 after discovering that his child was not breathing. According to state police, James Mauldin told the trooper that the child was in his bedroom and collapsed.

Police increasingly look to Facebook to investigate crimes, as an Arizona couple was arrested after allegedly binding their babies with duct tape and posting photos on the social network. The young parents, Frankie and Kayla Almuina, are facing charges of child abuse after one of the mother’s Facebook friends anonymously tipped off the Arizona Child Abuse Hotline.

A boy, who was beaten to death, was covered in more than 100 bruises and had two black eyes when he was found. Dustyn Skyler Roff, four, was allegedly killed at his mother’s apartment by her boyfriend, 21-year-old Michael Allen Seaton. Seaton has been charged with murder over the death of the child in Houston, Texas on December 15.

A woman charged with murdering her sister’s son has told how she was freed after her defence team claimed she was too fat to have committed the crime. In a new interview, Mayra Rosales, 31, of Texas, says she could not have hit the boy on the head because her arm was so big that she would not have been able to lift it to strike him. When two-year-old Eliseo Jr died in March 2008, 74-stone Ms Rosales, who had been babysitting at the time he was taken into hospital, originally claimed she caused his death by falling onto him.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A woman claiming to be God stabbed her 8-year-old son in the neck with a screwdriver Friday morning, police said.Neighbors said they called police after the boy stumbled into their apartment.Police said Liesha Henderson, 31, admitted she was high on meth when she drove a screwdriver into the neck of her son, Elijah Jackson.”He was just crying and saying he didn’t want to die today, that we should not to let him die today,” neighbor April Wilie said.

Investigators in the 1993 abduction and murder of 10-year-old Holly Piirainen want the public to come forward with information on a deceased Springfield man they say they’ve linked to the wooded hunting grounds where her body was found. Authorities are seeking information about David Edmund Pouliot, who died in 2003. He is not a suspect but has been linked inextricably through modern evidence testing to the Brimfield spot where pheasant hunters found the girl’s body in October 1993.
