WINTER GARDENS, Calif. — A 10-year old boy has been charged with murder and assault in the fatal stabbing of his 12-year old playmate. The unidentified boy is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing in juvenile court on Thursday. Family members of the 12-year-old victim released his photo Tuesday. Authorities did not release the victim’s name, but his family identified him to reporters as Ryan Carter, a sixth-grader at Foothills Christian Elementary School.

(CNN) — A Cincinnati man was in court Friday after authorities say he disciplined his daughter by twice tying her up with duct tape, then locking her in a dog cage. In a Hamilton County court Friday, Judge Fanon Rucker set $50,000 bail for James Tapke after he was charged with endangering children. The defendant, along with his son, allegedly took photos of the entire incident that ended up online.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — A statewide Amber Alert has been canceled for an 11-year-old girl who authorities said was abducted from her San Jose home at gunpoint.The girl, Taylor Vo, is alive and safe, but her condition is not being disclosed, San Jose police said.The suspect is dead.

Sunset Police arrested a woman Friday afternoon for allegedly trying to drown her three children. She’s now in the St. Landry Parish Jail charged with Second Degree Attempted Murder, while police said her children are safe in State custody. It started last December when police said 31-year-old Hailey Schramm told a Sunset Library employee she was having suicidal thoughts. She was taken to Opelousas General Hospital, where police said Schramm later admitted to trying to drown her three children, ages 9, 6 and 3, the night before.

MANALAPAN, NJ— A New Jersey babysitter was charged by federal agents with using a sleeping, 5 year old girl for a “live” porno show–chatting on Skype, while she ‘streamed’ footage of herself sexually abusing the girl inside her Manalapan home. FBI agents say in another instance, 32-year-old Jennifer Mahoney recorded images of the child being sexually touched during a bath.

Violent sex crimes committed by active U.S. Army soldiers have almost doubled over the past five years, due in part to the trauma of war. Research released today showed that the number of offences increased by 90 per cent from 2006 to 2011. There were 2,811 violent felonies in 2011, nearly half of which were violent felony sex crimes. Most were committed in the United States.

Eden, North Carolina – Whitney Buck, a 38-year-old teacher at Morehead High School has been jailed after she allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a student. According to Eden Police, an investigation was launched Tuesday after detectives received a tip that alleged Buck was involved in an inappropriate relationship with student.

A man accused of setting a teenager on fire in a Woodstock motel room has also been charged with trying to entice a juvenile at a Gwinnett County public swimming pool, Channel 2 Action News reports. On June 16, Joseph Raymond Zoeck tried to entice a minor in the locker room of the West Gwinnett Aquatic Center on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near Norcross, police said. The youth was under 16, but his exact age was not disclosed.

DECATUR, Ga. — Ryan Brunn, the man who confessed to killing seven-year-old Jorelys Rivera, hanged himself with a sweatshirt in his cell at the Jackson State Prison, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement emailed to 11Alive News. An autopsy on Brunn’s body was performed Friday at the GBI Crime Lab in DeKalb County, less than a day after Brunn was found dead in his prison cell.

SOUTH SACRAMENTO—Sacramento Sheriff’s detectives on Thursday morning, arrested a third suspect in the brutal killing of a Sacramento County man and his toddler son, back in 2007. Christopher Strong, 28, was taken into custody from a home in San Mateo, for the deaths of Sean Aquitania and his 7-month-old son, Sean Jr., shot to death during a home invasion robbery. Baby Sean was sleeping in his car seat when he was shot.

POMONA, CA — A 32-year old woman who smothered her two young sons and killed her husband with a sword was formally sentenced to death today. Manling Tsang Williams was convicted in 2010 of three counts of first-degree murder in the 2007, killings of her 27-year-old husband Neal, and sons Ian, 3, and Devon, 7. She was also found guilty of the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and lying in wait.
