A young boy took an overdose of tablets after he was allegedly abused by his teacher at a top public school, his mother told a jury today. The boy only told his parents what had happened after details of the police investigation into his teacher Bruce Roth’s alleged molesting of boys appeared in a national newspaper. Roth is on trial for sexually abusing boys in his care at two schools he worked at – King’s School, in Rochester, Kent, and the prestigious Wellington College, in Crowthorne, Berkshire.

A man has been arrested for attempted murder after pouring boiling water over his nephew. Mohammed Saffan Rizvie, 29, deliberately set out to torture and kill the boy, 11, say authorities. Police believe that Rizvie has mental health problems. Rizvie was arrested on attempted murder, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, reports NorthJersey.com. He is being held on $750,000 bail.

Audrey Grabarkiewicz, 46, was a preschool teacher in South Carolina before being charged with 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors for hosting alcohol, drug, and sex parties for teenagers in 2010, and she has been sentenced to 3 years probation with 120 hours community service.

A Pennsylvania boy is recovering from severe cold burns and blisters in the shape of a giant cross on his back after participating in a chilling new teen fad called the “salt and ice challenge.” The horrifying stunt, which makes the “cinnamon challenge” seem tame, dares kids to put salt on their body and cover it with ice. They then apply pressure and see how long they can withstand the pain. The unidentified Pittsburgh boy lasted several minutes, according to doctors, who treated him at a local burn center for injuries similar to frostbite.

MIAMI — Prosecutors said a Miami child-abuse investigator was arrested after he allegedly tried to leave the country while he himself was under investigation. Jean LaCroix was refused entry to the Dominican Republic this weekend and placed under arrest when he arrived in New York City. The Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s office told the Miami Herald they suspected LaCroix was trying to enter Haiti as officials went through the procedure of terminating him from his job with the Department of Children and Families.

Four South Florida men are accused of running a prostitution ring that preyed on children in foster care. Police and prosecutors arrested the men Monday as part of an ongoing investigation. They are charged with conspiracy, racketeering and unlawful sexual activity with a minor. The men used a teenage foster child as a recruiter. They plied the girls with cash, affection and gifts, authorities said. In turn, the girls became prostitutes, bringing the ring $100 for every man they had sex with. From the $100, the girls were paid $30 to $40.

MONSEY — A 31-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually molesting two young brothers, accepting an offer for a probationary sentence and joining his brother on the state registry of sex offenders.Shmul Dym, of Monsey, pleaded guilty as a state Supreme Court jury in New City sat ready to hear evidence he improperly touched the young boys, ages 7 and 9.

David Hyslop, the Great Falls man convicted in May 2012 of killing 2 year old October Perez, was sentenced on Wednesday afternoon to 100 years in prison without parole. October suffered fatal injuries while under Hyslop’s care in June 2011, suffering massive head trauma and multiple bone fractures. Hyslop originally told detectives several different stories to explain October’s injuries, ranging from feeding her bad hot dogs, to dropping her as he tried to put her down for a nap.

A bus driver and his wife have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse, molestation, child pornography and child prostitution. Police say Brian DiCamillo, 39, was found out after he offered a 10-year old boy a dollar to have sex with him and when the boy declined, DiCamillo then showed him pornographic images of his own six-year-old son. Jennifer DiCamillo, 39, also an employee at the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona allegedly knew about her husband’s activities and did nothing to stop him.

Sex offender, Alan Robert Johnson, 33, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Sparks, 37, were arrested on Wednesday after they left their cell phone with child porn images on it at Walmart on June 2.

The sexual abuse of a child often begins innocently enough-perhaps with just a simple conversation, according to Helen McGrail, Belpre clinic director for Tri County Mental Health and Counseling Services. The clinic provides counseling for child abuse victims. “Initially it seems there’s nothing inappropriate going on,” she said. “The abuser makes a child feel special, maybe buying things for him or her long before the victimization begins. And children love attention.” McGrail said abusers can be very patient, noting that some pedophiles will take weeks or months to gain a child’s confidence. But she said the sexual abuse can start without the child being involved at all.

SANTA ANA — A two-month-old girl was found dead in a bathtub at a Santa Ana mobile home park on Friday. Authorities received a call around 4 p.m. about an unresponsive baby found in a Jacuzzi-like bathtub at a home in the 500 block of South Sullivan Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. The baby’s grandmother grabbed the baby, ran outside holding her, and yelled for someone to call 911.

DETROIT – Sources tell 7 Action News the search for a 17-month old girl who disappeared Friday, has come to a tragic end. Ziya Turner was discovered dead in a bedroom closet at a home in the 18000 block of Brinker on Detroit’s east side. Sources say the body was buried under a pile of clothes. We’re told the toddler’s uncle has been taken into custody.

When she was a little girl, “Sarah” found herself receiving some unwanted attention from her father. Anytime the young girl needed a bath, her father wanted to join her and have her wash him in ways the little girl never understood. Years later, Sarah, 27, of Parkersburg, began to understand that she was one of the thousands of victims of child sexual abuse, and it came from within the home and the people trusted to raise her. “I will never understand how my mother could have allowed that, or how he could have done that,” said Sarah, who asked to not reveal her real name. Cases like the one involving Sarah aren’t nearly as uncommon as many people believe, law enforcement officials say.
