ORLANDO — A man accused of severely beating his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter was previously convicted of abusing the same girl. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 23-year-old Michael DeLeon Wednesday after they said he beat the girl so badly, her brain bled. In an arrest affidavit, investigators reported that DeLeon was arrested in Sanford last year for abusing the same child.

GRAY, Maine — Police say a 15-year-old boy is being held in Maine juvenile detention as he faces charges of raping an 8-year-old autistic girl with whom he lived. The Sun Journal of Lewiston says the teenager was charged Friday by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department with gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact. He’s being held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

COSHOCTON — A psychological evaluation will take place before a Coshocton man is sentenced on nine counts of first-degree felony rape. While Jim Baker Jr., 63, said he fully understood the consequences of his actions when he pleaded guilty to the charges Friday morning in Coshocton County Common Pleas Court, his family was taken bysurprise.

A 43-year-old Capac man has been arraigned today on several charges related to a Friday night incident. Gregory VanNeste was arraigned today on two counts of criminal sexual conduct first degree, felony firearm, felonious assault and kidnapping, according to St. Clair County Prosecutor Mike Wendling.

No fewer than 100 suspected political thugs known as Sarasuka in Bauchi State have been arrested by the police as part of its renewed effort to ensure a crime-free state. This is as a policeman with the Bauchi State command was arrested for sexually abusing children between the ages of nine and 12 years who he was alleged to have engaged in forceful anal sex. THISDAY checks revealed that at least six people have been killed in the last two weeks in bloody clashes by rival Sarasuka groups in the state capital. Our correspondent reports that the six were killed in Karofi Madaki, Wunti Market, and Corner Kwaila as a result of clashes between factions of Sarasuka in the last two weeks.

On Monday night, an 11-year-old girl from Safety Harbor told her mother she felt dizzy. Her stomach hurt. She had a headache. The mother and her live-in boyfriend, Gregory J. Johns, took the girl to the hospital. The pair waited in a lobby as a doctor examined her. After a few minutes, the doctor came back with news: The girl was pregnant. Her mother was distraught, and so was Johns. He asked for the car keys. He needed a smoke. Johns never came back.

Raleigh, N.C. — The former president of Wake Technical Community College entered a special guilty plea to a number of charges Wednesday in connection with allegations that he endangered the lives of his three grandchildren. Bruce Howell, who was Wake Tech’s president for 23 years until 2003, entered an Alford plea to three counts of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of injury to property.

JUNCTION CITY, Kansas — A Junction City minister at the center of a church sex scandal has been arrested in connection with two additional cases. Jordan Young, 25, is facing child molestation charges in four separate cases stemming from an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Junction City where he had been serving as the music minister. Young was originally taken into custody at the Junction City Police Department at 11:30 AM on Monday, August 13, 2012.

Angela Estrella, 36, a federal corrections officer from Miami, is facing attempted murder charges after State Troopers said she was purposely trying to kill her children after leading troopers on a high-speed chase in Osceola County, Fla. and ultimately crashing her car earlier this week. Estrella was in a Fla. courtroom yesterday, albeit detained in a cage for her own protection, as the judge read off the list of charges against her.

A pedophile who downloaded child porn has been spared jail after a judge said locking him up could be more dangerous to society in the long term. Jason Fairfax, 35, of Bargoed, south Wales, had amassed a collection of around 2,700 indecent images when police raided his home earlier this year. The photographs and videos were later graded from one to five – with the higher the category, the more serious the offense.

Salem – Another New York priest finds himself in the middle of a controversy, the second in less then a week. Father Richard McCormick appeared in Salem Superior Court Friday, pleading not guilt to five counts of child rape. McCormick, who now lives in New Rochelle, N.Y., was arrested Thursday by Ipswich Police on an indictment warrant for five counts of rape of a child WCVB reports. McCormick was held on $1,000 bond.

Rebecca’s obstetrician was off duty on the day she went into labor in 2010. That was a problem, because Rebecca was taking methadone on doctor’s orders. She had been prescribed it eight months earlier, in an effort to help break her addiction to Vicodin. Doctors told her it was the best thing she could do for the fetus growing inside her. But that did not matter to the hospital staff, who seemed sure that Rebecca was abusing methadone. Eric McGowen has been sentenced to 99 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child in the first trial stemming from the horrific gang-rape of a Texas 11-year-old — but the 20-year-old is still missing after brazenly escaping from court yesterday. McGowen hasn’t been seen since he vanished during a break in proceedings on Wednesday afternoonand the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office had no update on his whereabouts today. But Judge Mark Morefield chose to push ahead with the trial without the defendant, calling the remaining witnesses. Jurors deliberated for just 20 minutes before finding the missing man guilty and after another 30 minutes they had decided his sentence.
