Chilean police have arrested four alleged cult members who were accused of burning a baby alive in a ritual. According to World News, the 3-day-old baby was taken to a hill in the town of Colliguay near the Chilean port of Valparaiso on Nov. 21 and was thrown into a bonfire. The baby’s mother, 25-year-old Natalia Guerra, had allegedly approved the sacrifice and was among those arrested.

A Battle Creek mother didn’t know her daughter was being sexually abused and now hates her boyfriend who is accused of the crime. “I am just taking it one day at a time,” she said this week. “Not only was my daughter abused, but I lost my boyfriend. We were in a relationship for three years. We have two kids together and I loved him. Still a part of me loves him but I hate him so much for what he did.”

The abusive swaddling of seven babies, three boys and four girls “7 to 11 months old,” consisted of placing blankets over the babies’ faces and wrapping them so tightly that the babies could barely breathe or move. The abusive swaddling has resulted in the arrest of 35-year-old Nazila Sharaf of Dublin and her 33-year-old sister Lida Sharaf of Mountain House and according to a San Francisco Chronicle report on April 25, 2013, the two sisters are both being charged by Alameda County prosecutors with “three counts of felony child neglect and abuse and four counts of misdemeanor child neglect and abuse.”

A cheerleader’s body has been found in Texas two years after she went missing. On April 26, NBC News reported that Hailey Darlene Dunn’s remains were found near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County last month. There is still an investigation ongoing as authorities try to figure out what happened to the 13-year-old girl. “The girl had been the subject of months of intensive searches in and around Colorado City and surrounding fields and landfills after her mother reported her missing on Dec. 28, 2010. More than 100 billboards featuring her picture and information about the case were set up along interstates in Texas and other states,” NBC News reported.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in conjunction with the Nashua Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating fugitive Anthony Hannon, 44, whose last known address was in Nashua. Hannon is being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in an aggravated felonious sexual assault (rape) of a child, which occurred in Nashua earlier this year. Hannon is known to have family, friends and associates in Nashua as well as the Boston, Mass., metropolitan area; and in Maine.

But how health practitioners, law enforcement officers, prosecutors and others respond after a rape still varies widely across the country.

More than 400 new friends took advantage of the cloudless skies and warm temperatures to take part in the Million March Against Child Abuse, a cooperative 250-city march to raise awareness about child abuse. The anti-abuse activists gathered at Pine Grove Park and marched to the court house and back to the park, where they participated in several family fun activities at the park. Bounce houses, face painting, strolling pirates, live music and a live theater group were on hand.

A ‘highly dangerous’ man has been jailed indefinitely for raping a young girl and attacking three more in a single night. After his arrest, John Hinton wrote a series of disturbing diary entries, describing himself as ‘the devil’ and writing: ‘I still feel like killing and eating somebody.’ He detailed sick fantasies about how he would ‘catch the prey and tie her up’, saying he wanted to cut a girl up, send her body parts to her family and then drink her blood.

SACRAMENTO – A Sacramento woman was arrested for killing her newborn baby back in January. Courtney Addington, 24, was arrested at around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after a search of her residence earlier this year turned up a dead infant.

Bellevue, NE – A Nebraska couple that was jailed in February for repeatedly raping their 5-year-old son, now faces a new charge of child pornography. The couple’s identity was not released to protect the identity of the victim. According to police, an investigation was launched after a 5-year-old boy told his therapist that his parents had sexually assaulted him. As the investigation unfolded, it was learned that the alleged sexual assault was ongoing in nature.

A Philadelphia father has been accused of beating his 3-month-old son to death. Samuel Cabrera, 27, was arrested and charged with murder. Cabrera’s neighbor, Rashawn Reddick, didn’t hold back her disgust when she learned of the accusations. “It makes me sick to my stomach,” she said. “A 3-month-old innocent baby. It makes me want to cry.”

An Arizona mother has been arrested after her baby son was found dead while in her care. Jennifer Respicio, 14, was charged with murder in Del City, Oklahoma, after her 7-month-old son Jaidyn was found unresponsive on Sunday. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

A man accused for starving his son to death has been found guilty by a Dallas County jury and will spend life in prison. The verdict and decision on punishment both happened Tuesday afternoon. Aaron Ramsey, 35, was accused of starving his 10-year-old son Jonathan to death.
