CLEVELAND — The owner of a Cleveland home where three women were rescued from a decade in captivity has been charged with kidnapping and rape, but his brothers had nothing to do with the case, authorities announced Wednesday. Ariel Castro, a 52-year-old former school bus driver, has been charged with three counts of rape and four counts of kidnapping, City Chief Assistant Prosecutor Victor Perez said.

LOS ANGELES — Eight years after he testified in the Michael Jackson molestation trial that the pop star never touched him, an Australian choreographer has filed a claim against the singer’s estate alleging “childhood sexual abuse.” Attorneys for Wade Robson, who knew Jackson and stayed at the singer’s Neverland Ranch as a teenager, has asked a Los Angeles judge to allow him to make a late claim as creditor in Jackson’s estate.

CLEVELAND — The woman’s voice was frantic and breathless, and she was choking back tears. “Help me. I’m Amanda Berry,” she told a 911 dispatcher. “I’ve been kidnapped and I’ve been missing for 10 years and I’m, I’m here, I’m free now.” Those words led police to a house near downtown Cleveland where Berry and two other women who vanished about a decade ago were found Monday, exhilarating law enforcement authorities, family members and friends who had longed to see them again. Police Chief Michael McGrath said Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were apparently held captive in the house since they were in their teens or early 20s. Authorities later arrested three brothers, ages 50 to 54. One of them, former school bus driver Ariel Castro, owned the home, situated in a neighborhood dotted with boarded-up older homes. No immediate charges were brought against them.

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina authorities are accusing a couple of using zip ties to bind their 4-year-old daughter’s wrists and ankles to a baby gate. Raleigh police say 26-year-old Gerald Thomas Swinehart and 28-year-old Marlaine Victoria Coffey are accused of tying the child to a gate with plastic ties normally used by electricians. They also say Swinehart pushed or kicked the girl so hard her lower teeth broke through her lower lip.

Cyber predators are on an ever-changing hunt. They know they’re only as successful as their last deception. The latest looks like a game. “If parents could see what we see on a daily basis, they would be shocked,” said Christopher Heaverin of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. He is a cyber detective who knows it’s not just the blatantly sexual games used to lure children to predators. It’s also Xbox and Playstation, anything that allows conversation without seeing a face.

Florida mom Chelsea Hugget, 21, is behind bars after murdering her 2-year-old Aliyah Marie Branum at home; Hugget says the toddler wouldn’t stop whining. Police were called to the Hugget’s home on April 26th where they found the toddler in distress; they rushed her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after.

CLEVELAND COUNTY — Cleveland County and Canadian County officials work together to arrest a man they say is a sexual predator and was distributing child pornography and admitted to sexually abusing at least ten children. A Canadian County Computer Crimes Investigator applied for a warrant from a judge in Cleveland County after he said he received numerous images of graphic child pornography from Roger Kuhn over the internet in Canadian County over a period of three weeks.

The parents of a 5-month-old girl found bruised and battered Sunday at the family’s Richardson home have been charged in her death. Police say Hector Rene Cupich-Quinones, 35, has been charged with capital murder, and Maria Guadalupe Zuniga, 37, faces a charge of injury to a child. Both are being held in the city jail after their arrests over the weekend. The father, who like his wife cannot hear or speak, confessed through an interpreter to beating their only child because she wouldn’t stop crying, according to police documents.

The correct spelling is included in the updated story below. A Union City elementary school teacher is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon on eightfelony charges alleging that he molested eight different female students. Michael William Howry, a 47-year-old teacher at Alvarado Elementary School, was arrested at his home in Alameda on Wednesday and is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $1.5 million bail. Union City police said they arrested Howry after an investigation that began last month when an adult witness at Alvarado Elementary School reported that Howry had engaged in criminal acts with a female student.

A Dallas ISD middle school teacher has been charged with sexual assault after a 14-year-old girl accused him of having sex with her in his classroom in recent months. The eighth-grade girl told police that the relationship escalated, with Scott Alcaraz buying her Dr Peppers at Marsh Middle School and offering to buy her anything she wanted. It ended after two months when the girl said she saw him kissing another girl in his classroom, court documents state.

For victims of a serial rapist broadcaster, his guilty plea may finally bring some good news. 83-year-old veteran BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has pleaded guilty to charges that he raped upwards of thirteen girls between 1967 and 1985. The Chief Crown Prosecutor has described Hall as an opportunistic predator who would befriend a target and wait until she was alone, according to BBC.

A mother was charged in the fire deaths of her four children. Hope Kaneshia Hawkins, 21, the mother of four children who died in a mobile home fire in Hartsville, has been charged with four counts of unlawful neglect of a child and four counts of homicide by child abuse. According to WBTV, during that news conference, Fire Chief Jeff Burr revealed that the investigation so far has determined that fire began in the kitchen, and has been deemed accidental though they are not sure of the exact cause

There was no hiding the child’s disfiguring injuries in a Douglas County district courtroom Tuesday. Nor was there any concealing of the abuse of the child by his father and the father’s girlfriend. Not like Chad Cymbalista and his then-girlfriend, Nicole Corcoran, had tried to do April 24, 2012, when they caked makeup on the boy’s face and took him to the Nebraska Medical Center. Tuesday, their abuse of the little boy was laid bare.
