In gut-wrenching detail, Dylan Farrow wrote in her statement how at age seven, her adoptive father, Allen, allegedly led her by the hand to a dim attic on the second floor of their house.

School Child Abuse Reporting Failing

January - 31 - 2014 Reporter: Sandra Respond

Sexual abuse of children by teachers or other public school employees is likely underestimated because of a patchwork reporting system and involvement of numerous local, state and federal agencies in investigating such claims, according to a new government report obtained exclusively by NBC News. The report by the Government Accountability Office, released Thursday, raises numerous questions about how closely public schools are following federal requirements for mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse allegations or suspicions involving the public school employees who oversee the 50 million children enrolled in the nation’s public K-12 schools. The report also raises doubts about the accuracy of the data on the scope of the problem.

As part of a plea deal, he will be formally sentenced to 22 years in state prison next month.

The two girls, aged 12 and 17, and a 14-year-old boy were only allowed to leave to go to school, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday. The children had been held this way for six months in order to ‘discipline them’. The girls were locked in a room with the windows screwed shut and a portable toilet at the home in Covington. The teenage boy was held in a separate shed with no heating, electricity or running water.

According to a 16-month long investigation by ESPN’s ‘Outside the Lines,’ staff at the school first learned about the alleged February 2010 incident after Canadian-born Sasha Menu Courey recounted her harrowing experience to a rape crisis counselor during an online chat conversation and a campus therapist in December that year.

Superbowl Child Sex Trafficking

January - 31 - 2014 Reporter: Sandra Respond

When it came time for the Super Bowl, Clemmie Greenlee was expected to sleep with anywhere from 25 to 50 men a day. It’s a staggering figure, but it doesn’t shock advocates who say that the sporting event attracts more traffickers than any other in the U.S. “The Super Bowl is the greatest show on Earth, but it also has an ugly underbelly,”Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott told USA Today in 2011 when his state was gearing up to host the event. “It’s commonly known as the single largest human trafficking incident in the United States.” The influx of fans fosters the optimal breeding ground for pimps looking to boost their profits. Experts say that the sheer number of men looking to pay for sex substantially increases demand and the massive crowds allow for pimps and victims to essentially go unnoticed.
