A police officer who headed a child abuse investigation unit is facing a string of child sex offence charges, it has emerged.
Detective Inspector Glen Boulton of West Midlands Police is accused of six sex offences involving two girls aged under 16.

Jesse James claims that sex addiction and anger management were both addressed during his recent stay at Arizona’s Sierra Tucson Treatment Center, however they are not the main reasons why he admitted himself.
“Those were two of the things I was there for, but the main thing I was there for was being a victim of childhood abuse,” said James during a Tuesday appearance on ABC’s Nightline. “I was always scared. My whole childhood, I never had a chance to be a kid. I just remember the clenched teeth, strained-neck look on his face.”

Richland County is set to be part of the second stage of a pilot program as Ohio implements a family-oriented approach to investigating child abuse and neglect allegations.
The approach, called alternative response, is focused on finding the underlying causes of child abuse or neglect. The state received positive results from 10 pilot counties, including Licking County. The traditional response is more focused on investigating specific allegations, said Sue Wasiniak, intake supervisor for Licking County Children Services.

WATKINSVILLE, Ga. — A judge in Oconee County sentenced a couple who kept the woman’s son locked in a closet to 40 years apiece in prison and called it the worst case involving child abuse he’d handled in a dozen years.
Superior Court Judge Steve Jones sentenced 36-year-old Damita Devonna Peak and 39-year-old Norris Lazarus Walker on Thursday after a jury convicted them of false imprisonment, child cruelty and battery. They were acquitted of aggravated assault charges.

A Rocky Mount woman sought on several felony child abuse and neglect charges has turned herself in to authorities.
Authorities arrested and charged Misty Lynch, 32, of Wildberry Drive with felony child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and animal cruelty. Deputies said Lynch turned herself in Saturday at the magistrate’s office in Nashville.

Irish watchdog agency reports nearly 200 claims of church-related abuse
DUBLIN – A new report from a church-funded body set up to improve child protection procedures and policies reported nearly 200 new allegations of church-related child abuse in a year.
Ian Elliott, chief executive officer of the National Board for the Safeguarding of Children in the Catholic Church, said publication of two prominent reports on church abuse might have increased the number of victims coming forward to complain of abuse and that the number of allegations may well be down by the end of this reporting year in March 2011.

Police are urging teenagers to remove their profile pictures and personal details from Facebook after a man was charged with the murder of a young Sydney woman last week.
It is alleged that Nona Belomesoff, 18, believed she was going to work with an animal welfare organisation when she left her home last Wednesday to meet two men she befriended on Facebook.

Davis County prosecutors claim the 4-year-old boy died May 9 following four days of abuse by his stepfather and mother. He had recently arrived in Utah to spend the summer with his mother as part of a child custody agreement.
His death has struck a chord in thousands of people. By Saturday, three Facebook pages dedicated to his case had a combined total of nearly 32,000 fans.

Computer experts today warn of an “alarming trend in exploitation of social networking websites” for distributing images of child sex abuse.
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), based in Oakington, said popular websites and image sharing services were being used to spread the sick photos, and legitimate sites were being hacked into for the trade.

The government’s census workers are out and about in South Florida neighborhoods and beyond, going door to door and being invited into homes, but a little-known law is being criticized by local child advocates.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Parents and teachers alarmed by the news of a substitute teacher arrested for possession of child pornography are reminded to talk to kids about reporting abuse.
The investigation of the substitute teacher is ongoing and police aren’t sure if the images might lead to something more.
Detective Tammy Dunn says possessing child pornography is often a precursor to child sexual abuse.
