SOUTH GATE — Police are looking for a 20-year-old South Gate man suspected of killing his 10-month-old daughter. Police were called to a home in the 5100 block of McCallum Avenue around 5:40 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say Jose Deras assaulted his wife and their daughter during an argument. The baby was unresponsive when officers arrived. She was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where she died of blunt force trauma.

Deras is described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He has curly black hair, a slight mustache and a goatee. Deras has a tattoo of a dragon on his right shoulder and a tattoo of skulls on his upper right shoulder.

He was last seen driving his black 2008 Nissan Sentra, black, 4-Door, California license number 6FYB170.

Murder-Suicide: Two children and their mother are found dead inside a Novi, MI home

NOVI, Mich. – Novi Police say they were called out for a welfare check on Applebrooke Drive, near Nine Mile and Napier Roads. Police say a family friend called after the kids did not show up at school today and their mother missed work.  Officers went to the house to check on the family when they found three bodies inside the home, two boys and a woman.

GREENACRES, Fla. — Investigators said Tuesday a man who was on his normal Sunday walk found a barefoot 4-year-old girl, who was just attacked and raped, coming out of a wooded area near Weymouth Street.Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies said Jim Hight took a shortcut to get his usual morning coffee and paper at about 6 a.m. when he stumbled upon a the girl walking out of the bushes, crying for help. Hight said he immediately called 911.

MAN STABBED 12-YEAR OLD GIRL AT MCDONALD’S–John Robert Murphy III is charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury, a Felony 1offense. A Felony 1 offense carries a stiffer penalty than attempted murder or aggravated assault. This is not his first run-in with the law. Originally from Houston, Murphy has two previous charges out of Harris County, car burglary and resisting arrest. No emotion is visible in 23 year-old John Murphy’s face as he saunters toward a College Station Police car. “It makes you feel a little uneasy,” said Macey Lough, a College Station resident.

Accused Arizona Gunman/Child Killer Makes His First Court Appearance

TUCSON, Ariz — The nation got its first look on Monday at the 22-year-old loner accused of trying to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Jared Loughner, head shaved, a cut above the right temple and his hands cuffed, scanned a packed courtroom and sat down. His attorney, who defended “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski, whispered to him.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn — A Fort Campbell soldier allegedly beat his 4-month-old son.Pfc. James Marcinkowski has been charged with aggravated child abuse. According to Channel 4’s news partners at the Leaf-Chronicle, Marcinkowski took his son to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Friday. The boy was reportedly bleeding from his mouth and had bruises on both his head and stomach.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Shot in Arizona

Total of 18 people were shot/ 9-year old child killed

U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot in the head during a public event in Tucson this morning.
The trauma director of the University of Arizona Medical Center, Dr. Peter Rhee, said Giffords is in critical condition following surgery and he was “very optimistic” about her recovery because she was able to “follow commands.” Rhee said a total of 10 patients were brought to the hospital. One, a nine-year-old girl, died. Five other patients were in critical condition. U.S. District Judge John Roll, the chief federal judge in Arizona, also was confirmed dead. Giffords was holding an event outside a Safeway grocery store when a man ran up and started shooting, witnnesses said.

The boy is said to be in critical condition with life threatening injuries.

REDDING, Calif. — The father of an 8-year-old boy who police found bloodied and beaten with a baseball bat is under arrest on suspicion of attempted murder. Redding police say 53-year-old Geoffrey Kelly flew into a rage on Thursday morning and struck his son multiple times with an aluminum baseball bat.

A Middletown man faces rape charges involving a 10 year old girl.  Our partners at the Middletown Journal say the young victim was only able to tell her mother about the alleged attack by writing out the details on a piece of paper.
40 year old Michael Hall is behind bars on a $100,000 bond and his case has been bound over by a Grand Jury.

POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Police on one Region 8 city arrest two people accused of abusing two small children. According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Donnisha Nelson and Sterling Marshall were arrested and charged with 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. Police say they found a 23-month old boy with burns on several parts of his body, and a 3-year-old with a broken jaw in the care of both Nelson and Marshall.

HOUSTON — The woman accused in the murder of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster briefly appeared before a judge Monday. It was the first court appearance for Mona Nelson after a medical delay last week.  This is the first time we’ve seen and heard from Mona Nelson publicly. She only spoke two words in open court — ‘yes, ma’am,’ to indicate to the judge that she understood her rights as read. Nelson is accused of killing 12-year-old Jonathan Foster by tying his hands behind his back with twine and burning his body beyond recognition. The boy vanished from his home on Christmas Eve. Nelson was arrested four days later.
