RIVERSIDE — A 40-year old woman could spend the rest of her life in prison for the brutal beating and stabbing death of her toddler son. Lori Burchett was convicted in February of first-degree murder and assault following the 2009 stabbing death of her son, 17-month-old Garrison Burchett.

Mother starts 16-year term for killing three children

A mother who admitted killing her three children has been jailed for 16 years after a judge told her she had taken their lives with “a truly disturbing degree of violence”. Theresa Riggi stabbed her eight-year-old twins Austin and Luke and her five-year-old daughter Cecilia to death at a townhouse in Edinburgh.

Mistrial declared in Chris Collings case

Judge rules a mistrial in case of man accused in the rape and murder of nine-year-old Rowan Ford.

The trial of a Southwest Missouri man accused of raping and murdering a nine-year-old girl will not go ahead as scheduled on Monday. The judge in the case has declared a mistrial in the case involving Christopher Collings, according to Phelps County Deputy Circuit Court Clerk, Jill Cooksey.  A person who tells KY3 News they were in the jury pool says the mistrial was declared due to a lack of an adequate number of jurors left in the pool to meet legal requirements.

BALTIMORE — The discovery of a missing North Carolina teen’s body in a Maryland river brings the investigation of her disappearance into a new phase. The body of Phylicia Barnes, who disappeared while visiting her older half-siblings in Baltimore on Dec. 28, was one of two bodies found Wednesday near the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River. Barnes’ 17th birthday was Jan. 12.

SUMMERFIELD — When Seath Tyler Jackson received a text message Sunday afternoon from a 15-year-old ex-girlfriend saying she wanted to rekindle their romance and that they should meet at a central Florida house, a female friend of Jackson’s sensed something wasn’t right. “I wouldn’t fall for that,” 16-year-old Brittnay Jones told Jackson, she recalled to The Associated Press. The 15-year-old Jackson ignored his friend’s advice and went Sunday to a house in Summerfield, about 65 miles northwest of Orlando.

Dad Charged After 10-YO Disabled Son Found Dead in Cardboard Box

PASADENA, Texas — Police have arrested a man after his disabled 10-year-old son was found dead inside a box in the family’s SUV. Jeffrey Singer was arrested Sunday after driving to a relative’s home with the body of his son, Jonathan.
Family members say Jonathan was blind and suffered from Cerebral Palsy.

OAK HARBOR, Ohio — A man who recently told a relative he was having marital problems called 911 and informed a dispatcher that he had fatally shot his wife and three young children and was getting ready to kill himself, too, authorities and his grandmother said Saturday. The 911 call came in just after midnight, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said, and deputies arrived within minutes at the white-sided, two-story farmhouse in Oak Harbor, about 25 miles southeast of Toledo. They didn’t enter the home until two hours later, after they’d tried to contact the people inside by phone and through a loudspeaker.

Texas man allegedly killed two infant sons, sent pictures to their mother

(CBS/AP) FORT WORTH, Texas – Authorities in a rural North Texas community are investigating the slayings of an infant and toddler whose father, Gabriel Armandariz, sent his ex-girlfriend a cell-phone picture that appeared to show the younger child dead, according to two of the mother’s friends. Armandariz, 28, remained jailed Friday on a capital murder charge and $1.5 million bond. The children’s bodies were found early Thursday in Graham, about 75 miles northwest of Fort Worth, after a 10-hour search prompted by a family member concerned for their welfare, police said.

Harrisburg, Pa. -A Harrisburg man will spend decades behind bars for murdering a nine-month-old boy. Prosecutors said the baby’s mom has been supporting her son’s killer, and that she made it quite clear at Thursday’s sentencing hearing. A judge sentenced Christopher Scott to 30 to 60 years in jail. Prosecutors had been seeking the death penalty, but instead offered Scott a plea deal.

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – A woman who had just been involved in a domestic dispute loaded her four children into a minivan Tuesday night before letting one out and driving the rest of them into the Hudson River, firefighters said. The woman and three young children were killed. The 10-year-old boy who had been let out of the minivan ran to a nearby fire station and alerted firefighters, Chief Michael Vatter said. The boy said his mother had driven off a boat ramp and into the murky water of the river, which runs between New York and New Jersey.

A US couple have been arrested after an investigation into complaints of suspected child abuse revealed the man emulated professional wrestling moves with the woman’s 21-month-old son.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office in south-west Florida launched the investigation after 26-year-old Alexis Serrano’s son was found to have bruises to his ribs and back, WZVN-TV said. The toddler was later found to have four or five fractured ribs.
