Man kidnapped, ran over teen after she refused to have sex

FLORIDA — A Marion County man has been arrested after deputies say he offered money to a 14-year-old girl for sex, then kidnapped her, strangled her and drove over her with his SUV when she refused. Adrian Mendez was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping. Deputies said they found the girl lying on the side of Wilson Parrish Road near Umatilla on Sunday night.  She was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators say while she was at the hospital, she was able to pick her attacker out of a photo line-up and he was arrested at his Marion County home. READ MORE HERE

Nancy is a single mom struggling to raise two young children with autism. When an emergency with one of her kids arose she called on her tenants for help. While the 10-year-old boy was in the care of Melissa Nicole Jones and Matthew Wilson Freethy-Swimm, Athens-Clarke police said the couple sexually assaulted him. According to Nancy, her son told her that Freethy-Swimm held a knife to his throat while Jones had sex with him. Child Abuse Suspect Charged with Murder After Baby Dies

An 8 week old Fort Walton Beach infant has died from her injuries in an aggravated child abuse case which is now a homicide. Infant Braelyn Thomason died late Monday night at Sacred Heart in Pensacola due to her injuries. 23-year old William Thomason had been arrested on aggravated child abuse charges. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says it will upgrade those charges to homicide. Documents including disturbing photos of a dungeon built by a man who planned to torture and eat children were filed by federal prosecutors Tuesday. Geoffrey Portway, 40, pleaded guilty in May to distribution and possession of child pornography and solicitation to kidnap a child, according to the Boston Herald. He will be sentenced next Tuesday. Prosecutors said Portway, a British-born Massachusetts man, constructed a basement torture room and regularly chatted online about raping, killing, cooking and eating children. Thurmont man charged with child abuse in death of 2-year-old denied bail

THURMONT, MD — The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Thurmont man with child abuse and is investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy. The sheriff’s office says the child, Robert Watkins, was taken to the Frederick Memorial Hospital emergency room last week. Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro found hanged in prison cell

Ariel Castro, the man who has been sentenced to life in prison for holding three Cleveland women captive for roughly a decade before their rescue this year, was found hanged in his cell and is believed to have committed suicide, Ohio officials said. Castro, 53, was found in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient Tuesday evening, a prison spokeswoman told the Associated Press. JoEllen Smith of the Ohio Department of Corrections released the following statement.

Inmate Ariel Castro was found hanging in his cell this evening at 9:20 pm at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient. He was housed in protective custody which means he was in a cell by himself and rounds are required every 30 minutes at staggered intervals.  Upon finding inmate Castro, prison medical staff began performing life saving measures. Shortly after he was transported to OSUMC where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 pm. A thorough review of this incident is underway and more information can be provided as it becomes available pending the status of the investigation.

A sadistic father has been jailed for four years after he beat his newborn daughter and told police he wanted to cause her pain. Joshua Stephens, 22, was violent towards the unnamed baby for the first six weeks of her life before he confessed to his wife about what he had done. Among the most brutal acts he carried out, Stephens held a pillow over the child’s face and forced her head under water while giving her a bath. Stephens, from Mirfield, West Yorkshire, was told by a judge that he posed a significant risk to the public after hearing that he had slapped the girl ‘as hard as you would hit a man’.
