Ohio doctor admits he killed pregnant woman with heroin overdose and ‘did inhumane things to her corpse’

A former Ohio doctor accused of killing a pregnant woman last year by injecting her with heroin after she answered a Craigslist ad pleaded guilty today for her death and that of her nearly full-term unborn child. Ali Salim, 44, entered the pleas in Delaware County Court, north of Columbus, ahead of his trial scheduled for next week.  He faces 37 years in prison at a December sentencing. Student opens fire at Nevada middle school, killing teacher; injuring 2 students, shooter dead

A student apparently opened fire at a Nevada middle school Monday, killing a teacher and wounding two boys, authorities said. The shooter was left dead. A hospital said that the two boys arrived in critical condition. One was later upgraded to fair. Kyle Nucum, a student, told the Reno Gazette-Journal newspaper that he heard “a pop, like a loud pop, and everybody was screaming.” He said the shooter was wearing a Sparks Middle School uniform, and shot the teacher after the teacher told him to put the gun down. Police say 11 children and the driver were on bus

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — Authorities say a man armed with a knife forced his way onto a school bus as it picked up children in central Arkansas, then drove it several miles during a police pursuit. Police say 11 children and the driver were aboard when 22-year-old Nicholas John Miller got onto the bus Thursday morning in Jacksonville, a Little Rock suburb. Jacksonville police spokeswoman April Kiser says Miller was armed with a knife and pulled over only after seeing police spike strips on the road. (CNN) — A 2-year-old boy who was reportedly the son of Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson died Friday of injuries he suffered after allegedly being abused, police said. Sioux Falls, South Dakota, police said Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, has been charged with aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault. If convicted on the charges, both felonies, Patterson could face up to 40 years in prison and an $80,000 fine. Prosecutors are considering filing additional charges against Patterson in light of the boy’s death, according to police. A grandmother has been charged with the murder of her granddaughter after she allegedly hit the baby with a sledgehammer as she lay sleeping before slitting her throat. Alfreda Giedrojc, 61, is believed to have killed six-month-old Vivian Summers on Sunday morning, authorities said on Monday. The grandmother, of Oak Lawn, Illinois, allegedly placed the baby on the floor of the suburban home and hit her repeatedly with the sledgehammer.  She then retrieved a carving knife from the kitchen and slit the baby’s throat. Police say there could be MORE victims

A former priest who raped and molested two boys for almost two decades has been jailed for 13 years. Phillip Challis, 52, admitted 17 sexual offences carried out between 1991 and 2009 while he was a priest in Merton, southwest London. He pleaded guilty to crimes including raping a child, indecent assault, attempted rape and taking indecent photographs. Challis was caught by child abuse investigators in January after a 17-year-old boy came forward to say he had been abused by Challis since he was eight. Police later found out that Challis had also abused a second male victim, who is now 29, since he was seven years old. TEXAS — Police in Cleveland, Texas are investigating the horrifying possibility that another gang rape has occurred in the small town of 8,000, just three years after an assault by 20 men on an 11-year-old girl shocked the nation. The latest crime involves a 15-year-old girl who has told Cleveland police that she was drugged, attacked and raped by four men in an abandoned home over the weekend before last. The girl’s parents made the complaint to law enforcement on Tuesday and the girl was taken to a Houston medical facility to be examined by rape experts before she was interviewed in a secure environment at a child advocacy center. 5-yo killed on his birthday by mother’s boyfriend

EDWARDSVILLE, IL – A Madison County mother and her fiance’ are behind bars for the death of a 5-year-old boy. Investigators say on Sunday, September 29, a 911 call was reported from the 2100 block of Rose Knoll Lane, of a 5-year-old child being unresponsive. Deputies arriving on the scene found Torian Whittaker, 5,  lifeless.  He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Eric Emil Lehtinen Injected Son With Heroin To Delay Divorce

A Washington state man is accused of trying to kill his 4-year-old with heroin on the day his divorce was supposed to be finalized. Eric Emil Lehtinen, 37, was found unconscious with his son in their locked Redmond home on Tuesday, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. Police say a syringe filled with heroin was sticking out of the boy’s chest. Evidence of ketamine, morphine and codeine was also found in the child’s blood. Mother charged in child-abuse death of her 2-yo son

A 20-year-old Tulsa woman was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday in the apparent beating death of her 2-year-old son. A charge of child-abuse murder was filed against Andrea Denise Smith in Tulsa County District Court, and detectives arrested her about 2:40 p.m., court and jail records show. Smith is accused of causing blunt trauma resulting in internal bleeding to her son, Xavier Wade, on Sept. 9, detectives said. Court documents filed Tuesday allege she struck the child in the abdomen, lacerating the boy’s liver. READ MORE HERE
