Father, 21, arrested on charges of murdering his 3-month-old son

A young 21-year-old father was indicted Monday on charges he murdered his 3-month-old son. John Thomas Cormier Jr’s  arrest comes exactly three months after his infant son was found unresponsive at the Lebanon, Tennessee home he shared with the boy’s mother.  An investigation was launched after the incident, and the case was recently brought in front of a grand jury, which decided to indict Cormier on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse. DEKALB COUNTY, Georgia — A DeKalb man will now face the death penalty for the murder of 9-month-old Ken Darious Edwards Jr. The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty on November 12, against Devin Thomas. “Because of the egregious nature of this senseless crime, my office had no choice but to seek the death penalty regarding the death of an innocent baby,” said District Attorney Robert James. Two members of the Bloods street gang were recently indicted on eight felony counts after being charged with Edwards’ death. A third person has been arrested and charged in connection to the beating death and alleged torture of a 3-year-old boy in Pennsylvania. Jillian Tait, 31, and Gary Lee Fellenbaum, 23, were charged Thursday with murdering Tait’s son, Scott McMillan in what Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan has referred to as ‘an American horror story’. The couple allegedly hung little Scott by his legs, tortured him for weeks and smashed his head into the wall before beating him to death. Police arrested Fellenbaum’s wife, 21-year-old Amber Fellenbaum, who allegedly witnessed the beatings but did nothing to stop the violence. SAN BERNARDINO, California — A business associate was arrested in the murders of a family of four, including two young boys, whose disappearance from their San Diego County home in 2010 was a mystery until their remains were discovered in graves in the California desert last year, officials said Friday. San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon identified the suspect as Charles Merritt, who was due in court later in the day to face four counts of murder. In a killing described as “an American horror story,” a man and his girlfriend were charged with murder for beating her 3-year-old son to death in their West Caln mobile home, Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said Thursday. Hogan said his office will seek the death penalty against Gary Fellenbaum, 23, and Jillian Tait, 31, for torturing Tait’s son, Scott McMillan, to death over three days with a homemade whip, a curtain rod, a piece of aluminum siding, and their fists, at one point while he was taped to a chair. The boy was discovered Tuesday after he died, and Fellenbaum’s wife, Amber Fellenbaum, who lives with the couple, called 911. The body of a 6-year-old boy has been found in the waters of Oregon’s Yaquina Bay after his mother told officials she threw him off a bridge. London McCabe’s body was found by Newport police in water roughly a mile away from the span after an extensive search in which two coastguard boats and a helicopter were deployed. WASHINGTON – D.C. police are investigating the murder of a 1-month-old child in Southeast. According to a statement, police said officers responded to a home in the 1700 block of Trenton Place this past Wednesday, Oct. 29, just after 9:30 a.m. for a report of an unconscious child. Officers discovered an unconscious baby boy suffering from injuries. DETROIT, Michigan – A Detroit teen is in the hospital, fighting to live, after a vicious attack at an area school. Willie Wallace, 16, a student at the private Allen Academy, was jumped Wednesday. An attack that caused a seizure, fractured skull, bleeding in his brain, and damage to his chin, cheek and neck, according to family. His mother told 7 Action News exclusively, he is sedated at Henry Ford Hospital, and is unable to speak. SANTA FE, Texas — An accused child killer was set free after the county’s medical examiner misplaced the evidence needed to convict her, prosecutors said. In March 2013, Taylor Moore, 4, was critically injured while staying with her father and his girlfriend, Laura Kolb, 38, in their apartment here. Taylor’s dad, Kevin Moore, and Kolb had had an argument, police said. Moore left their apartment to cool off, but Kolb was still livid. Prosecutors in the Galveston County District Attorney Office say Kolb shoved Taylor to the floor and then threw her on a bed; Taylor died March 23, 2013, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, and Kolb eventually was charged with murder. A federal judge in Alabama threw the book at a local Lauderdale Couple for sexually abusing a child and producing child pornography. WAFF said Matthew Ayers, 42, and Patricia Ayers, 34, are both responsible for the sexual abuse of a child in their custody and take pictures of the behavior to manufacture the child porn. U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler said, “I have been on the bench since 1998, and this is the worst case I have personally dealt with, including murders. MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON — Two students are dead and four more are injured after a school shooting in Washington state. Gunman Jaylen Fryberg is dead, police have confirmed. He committed suicide after opening fire inside the cafeteria around 10:45 a.m. at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. He is believed to be the only suspect in the shooting and used a Beretta .40-caliber handgun, federal law enforcement said. GLENDALE, Arizona – A 29-year-old man is accused of child abuse after the death of a 2-year-old boy in Glendale. The case began in January when Glendale police and fire personnel responded to a call of an unresponsive child at an apartment complex near 51st and Northern avenues. The child was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A doctor who examined the child noted several areas of bruising, according to court documents. READ MORE HERE

UPDATE: The Canadian Press reports that Andrea Giesbrecht, 40, was arrested and charged with concealing the bodies. Police say the babies may have been newborns. There are no homicide charges planned at the moment.

Police in Winnipeg, Canada say that the bodies of several infants were found in a U-Haul storage locker on Monday night. CBC News first reported the “gruesome scene,” where six bodies were discovered in various states of decomposition. An employee at the facility originally called police after the remains caught his or her attention. It wasn’t immediately clear how long the bodies had been in the locker, but police told reporters that a woman who was renting the locker has been interviewed. READ MORE HERE
