UK — Brian Callaghan was arrested at his home in September 2012 following several allegations of historical sexual assaults in Suffolk and Lancashire from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The 78-year-old retired man from Waterford Road was charged with offences in December 2013. At Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday he pleaded guilty to two counts of administering a drug with intent to have sex; six counts of inciting indecency with children; six counts of sexual assault; three counts of child rape; two counts of committing gross indecency with children and one count of cruelty to a child. Washington — The state Department of Health suspended the license of a Chelan County registered nurse after he was charged with raping a child. Charles White’s license to practice was suspended today following a three-week review by Health officials. According to the agency, White was arrested April 15 in Douglas County and the state Nursing Commission referred the case to the Department of Health on July 8. Man whose wife set him on fire — claimed shooting him was ‘too nice’ — charged with child molestation

A burn victim in Washington state is now facing sex crime charges after his wife said she set him on fire for molesting her daughter, according to a report. Vincent Phillips, 52, who is in intensive care at a Harborview Medical Center, was expected to be charged with first-degree child molestation, local KOMO-TV reported. His wife, Tatanysha Hedman, said he assaulted her 7-year-old little girl. Florida man faces death penalty for ‘the ultimate act of revenge’: Killing toddler to spite mother 

A Florida man faces the death penalty after being convicted of killing his girlfriend’s baby in 2009 by throwing the three-month-old out of a moving car while speeding down a highway. Richard McTear, of Tampa, was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder and other charges related to the death of Emanuel Murray Jr. Prosecutors argued during the trial he killed the baby to spite his mother. McTear is believed by authorities to have taken the child on a drive after an argument with Jasmine Bedwell, 22, and tossed him out of the moving car. A stepfather who killed his two-year-old stepson following years of abuse has been jailed for at least twenty years and six months. Gregory Wayne Hill, 40, pleaded guilty last year to murdering his stepson on March 3, 2008 while he was caring for little Jakob Brown at The Oaks in Sydney’s south west. During that day, the court heard Hill delivered the two savage blows that would kill the boy. The first attack ripped the two-year-old’s stomach wall and would have caused him ‘enormous pain’. But instead of seeking medical attention, Hill watched the boy’s suffering for hours before delivering the fatal blow to his head. The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Campbelltown Hospital. In sentencing Hill to a maximum of 27 years and 6 months at the Supreme Court on Thursday, Justice Geoffrey Bellew said the 40-year-old had shown a ‘callous disregard’ for the boy. Man, 44, who ‘raped mother and her 8-year-old daughter at knife-point’ is captured after manhunt

A man accused of raping a mother and her 8-year-old daughter at knife-point in Alabama is behind bars after leading law-enforcement officials on a four-day manhunt. David Pitts, 44, had been on the run from Ozark since Thursday, when he was accused of raping a 30-year-old woman at gunpoint and making her daughter watch. He then allegedly assaulted the little girl in front of her mother. Pitts was arrested without incident at Bethesda Hospital East after the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that he was being treated there. OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma mother is now pushing to make a change with the state’s Sex Offender Registry. She says the pictures on the website are so old you can’t recognize the people who could be a danger in your neighborhood. Now lawmakers are getting involved. The bill is basically the same as the current Sex Offenders Registration Act. NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI – A black Labrador mix named Bobby had a hand in finding a naked newborn girl – just hours old – who had been left under a satellite dish on the side of a dirt road Monday morning, said Jeff Kopp of White Cloud. Police were called to the a short distance away from Kopp’s home in the 500 block of West Marion Avenue in White Cloud on Monday after he found the baby while heading out to walk his daughter’s dog, he said. The infant had some scrapes and was taken to Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont, said Newaygo Sheriff’s Department Lt. Police: Murder-suicide probed in family slaying

An apparent murder-suicide that left a father, mother and their three young children dead in a Saco, Maine, apartment rattled the quiet city and shocked friends who said the family patriarch was friendly and outgoing. This afternoon police said they are looking at Joel Smith, 33, the father and husband, as the cause of the horrific slaying. Killed were his wife, Heather Smith, 35, and their three children — 12-year-old Jason Montez, 7-year-old Noah Montez and 4-year-old Lily Smith. “It appears they were sleeping,” Saco Police Sgt. MOUNTAIN HOME, Arkansas — A Baxter County judge has sentenced a Cotter man to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl. The Baxter Bulletin reported that 63-year-old William Bardin was sentenced Thursday. MURFREESBORO, TN – A Lebanon man facing more than three dozen sexual offense charges is in custody after four years as a fugitive Friday in Rutherford County, according to an official. Stephen Beck, 43, was charged with three counts of raping a child Sept. 10, 2010 in Rutherford County Circuit Court, according to a media release. Beck was also wanted for nine counts of rape of a child, 16 counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in neighboring Wilson County. Beck was released on $1 million bond after he was charged, but he failed to return on his next court date, according to the release. The House on Monday cleared legislation to reauthorize the Victims of Child Abuse Act for the president’s signature. Passed by voice vote, the measure, S. 1799, would authorize $15 million annually through fiscal 2018 for child abuse prevention programs, including grants to train attorney prosecuting cases and develop investigations. Horrified parents allegedly witnessed children as young as five being beaten in an unlicensed Romanian kindergarten after staff forgot to turn off CCTV cameras. Staff at the Little Kingdom nursery, in the Black Sea city of Constanta, used to leave cameras on each morning from 9am until 12noon so parents could watch their children playing and in lessons. The cameras were usually switched off at midday when the children were expected to go to sleep. But police and social workers investigating the incident say a parent who logged on after that time one day at the end of last year noticed the cameras were still running, and was shocked to see children allegedly being shouted at and abused.
