PITTSBURGH– A Greenfield man has pleaded guilty to abducting and raping an 11-year-old girl as she walked home from school last year.Clyde Haidle, 47, was arrested in May 2009, just hours after he grabbed the victim after she got off of her school bus and dragged her into an abandoned home on Ivondale Street.

A McMinnville man was arrested Friday on charges that he sexually abused a girl who is about 13 years old, according to McMinnville police.
Richard Wallace Werner, 56, of 641 N.E. Fourth St. was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. He was booked into Yamhill County jail on $450,000 bail.

A state funded survey has revealed that a third of Irish parents believe they should have the right to smack their children.
The study, Parenting Styles and Discipline: Parent’s and Chidren’s Perspectives, was funded by the Minister for Children’s office.
It found that 25% of respondents hit their children in the previous year and fathers were more inclined to support the legal smacking of children.

June 29 (IANS/AKI) A 74-year-old priest has been removed from his position in northern Italy after confessing he sexually abused minors.
Alois Kranebitter, parish priest in the Alto Adige region’s Bolzano-Brixen diocese, will no longer be allowed to celebrate mass in public and will be obliged to live in a place where he has no contact with children, the diocese said in a statement.

Hartsville, SC – According to police, at about 12:40 Friday morning, Dearl James Douglas, boogeyman extraordinaire, crept into a family’s home after removing a screen from a bedroom window. McAllen, TX – EMT’s responded to Hector Castro’s apartment Saturday evening after receiving a call about a child who had choked on a screw. There was little anyone could do for his toddler stepdaughter – she was dead when emergency personnel arrived. The 2-year-old did have a screw in her throat, but an initial examination of her body revealed the item had absolutely nothing to do with her death – she had been beaten and suffocated.

A bill to force convicted child sex offenders to undergo chemical castration will be put to a vote at the Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly today, lawmakers said yesterday.

A 42-year-old Tega Cay woman has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after her stepdaughter accused her of beating her, according to a Tega Cay Police report.
The victim, a 14-year-old girl, told police her stepmother beat her with a belt on the arms, face and neck, according to the report. The girl called police after the alleged incident on June 22. The Fort Mill Times is not reporting the woman’s name to protect the victim’s identity.
The father of a 14-month-old baby in Denver has been jailed as a child-abuse suspect after his son died Friday at Lutheran Medical Center.
Police were called about 1 p.m. after an ambulance arrived at the hospital. The father reported that his son had fallen out of his crib, but by the time the ambulance arrived at the emergency room, the baby’s heart had stopped beating, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A local attorney is facing charges of child abuse and domestic battery following an altercation that took place outside his home Saturday evening.
According to the eyewitness, James Tarquin slapped his wife, threw her onto the driveway, and held her down so she could not get up. The 24-year-old eyewitness told deputies he was forced to pull Tarquin off his wife, and restrain him by punching him twice until he left his residence in his vehicle.

A man who has a history of battery arrests has been charged with the murder of a 17-month-old South Side baby boy who died of multiple blunt force trauma early Saturday in the South Shore neighborhood.

Houston nurse Abigail Young went on trial today on charges she failed to prevent the death of her 4-year-old daughter whose body was battered with 80 bruises, had a severed pancreas and a fractured skull.
There were also indications that the girl had been sexually abused.
Young, 34, faces up to life in prison if convicted on the one count of injury to a child by omission. Jury selection began today in Young’s unusual case.

BIG SPRINGS, Neb. — A truck driver has been charged with abducting an 8-year-old California girl from a travel center in western Nebraska.
The State Patrol says 45-year-old William J. Buckner, of Clifton Springs, N.Y., was booked into the Garden County jail Thursday on charges of kidnapping, sexual assault and transporting a minor across state lines.
