DALLAS, N.C. — A 7-year-old girl is the only survivor of a murder-suicide that left four family members dead, including her pregnant mother.
Gaston County Police Capt. Joe Ramey says the father, Austen Blake Minter, shot the woman and kids in the kitchen of their home sometime between midnight Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday.

A sex offender arrested in County Cavan two weeks ago after going missing in Lancashire has been jailed for four months in the Irish Republic. William Paden, 56, was sentenced at Cavan District Court for breaching the Republic’s sex offenders legislation.

ROSEBURG, Ore. — A teenage boy charged with the rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl told police he suffocated the child after she woke up while he was sexually abusing her, according to a court document.
Dustin Wallace, 16, told investigators that Sahara Dwight, who was asleep, jerked away when he started touching her early Friday, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Roseburg police Detective Daniel Knott and released this week.

The parents of a 5-month-old boy were charged Wednesday with felony child abuse after an emergency room doctor said the infant suffered multiple fractures, burns and bruises.
Jeremy Taylor, 28, and Marie Youmans, 27, appeared briefly Wednesday before East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl to hear the charges against them.

MINDEN – Three Minden residents have been charged in the December death of a 4-year-old boy.
Katie Payne, 19, Sharon Turnell, 36, and Charles Turnell, 37, all of Minden, were arrested Thursday and charged with felony aiding and abetting child abuse resulting in death in the Dec. 22, 2009, death of Landon Payne, said Kearney County Attorney Dave Wondra.

Louisa, VA – Police say an 8-year-old girl snuck out of her grandparent’s home in the wee hours of the morning last Thursday. At about 3:00 a.m., the child walked to a neighbor’s home and reported that she had been abused. “She had bruises all over her,” Sheriff Donald Lowe said. “Her ear had been partially torn. She had blood on her.” In addition to the torn ear, the girl had a broken foot, bruising on her head, legs and arms, and it appeared as if some of her hair had been torn out.

BUCYRUS, Kansas – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a Miami County daycare facility an Emergency Order of Suspension after its operator admitted to disciplining a child with a horse riding crop.
According to the emergency order, issued July 13, Shirley Joyce McClellan admitted using the crop to discipline at least one child and reported that she has swatted children with her hand and threatens them with getting a stick as form of punishment.

Miami, FL – According to authorities, the 34-year-old fucktard approached a mother and child Sunday afternoon, punched the infant in the face a couple of times and attempted to pry her away from her mother. Witnesses to the attack jumped in and were able to rescue the woman and child from the strange man. The 4-month-old baby girl was transported to the hospital to be treated for facial injuries and two fractured clavicles.

COPPELL, Texas – Police officers went to the home of Mayor Jayne Peters at the request of the city manager’s office after the she did not show up for a scheduled council meeting. Once inside, officers found the bodies of 55-year-old Jayne Peters and her 19-year-old daughter Corrine Peters. Both had been shot in the head.

A registered sex offender who had been ordered held without bail on charges that he raped a woman in Herring Run Park a decade ago is being sought after sheriff’s deputies in Baltimore County mistakenly released him from custody last month.
Police did not disclose they were searching for a man they consider dangerous until questioned by a reporter Monday. Only then did officials release a photo of the suspect, 34-year-old Ernest Clark.City police acknowledged that, despite linking Clark in 2006 to the attack through DNA evidence, detectives in the sexual assault unit essentially shelved the case after deciding the victim did not want to proceed with pressing charges.
