CHAMPLAIN, NY – On Thanksgiving Day, CBP officers at the Champlain, N.Y. port of entry received notification from Canada Border Services Agency that Kenneth Schneider, a 32-year-old United States citizen from Foley, Mo. was being deported from Canada and returned to the United States. Schneider entered Canada in July of 2008 as a visitor and has remained there without legal status until he was arrested by Canadian authorities on an immigration violation. Record checks by Canadian authorities revealed the possibility of an active warrant in the United States.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 9-year-old Springfield girl is reported to be the victim of heinous crime. The young girl was allegedly raped by her grandmother’s boyfriend. Springfield Police Lt. Lyon County Sheriff’s Officials are looking into the death of a two-year old Silver Springs boy. They say on November 23rd, they responded to an emergency call for a two-year-old that wasn’t breathing. The child had several injuries and was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital. He was later transported to Renown Medical Center by Care Flight, but died shortly after. 22-year-old Cody Wallace was arrested for the boy’s death. Deputies are calling this a child abuse/homicide, but are still investigating.

HAWTHORNE ( KTLA) — A 10-year-old girl believed to have been sexually assaulted was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive at a Hawthorne residence Saturday morning. Authorities were called to a home in the 4800 block of West 132nd Street about 7:20 a.m.. said Sgt. Richard Pena of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “They found an unresponsive 10-year-old white female,” he said. “The girl was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.”

Toledo police arrested a city man with a long criminal record Friday in connection with a recent string of rapes and attempted abductions that centered on South and East Toledo but spread fear throughout the city. Vincent Vernell Williams, 30, of 615 Cherry St. was arrested Friday night in the 600 block of Fassett Street in East Toledo after a car and foot chase and was charged with two counts of rape, police Chief Michael Navarre said.

The U.S. Marshals Service works directly with state and local law enforcement to check with neighbors of sex offenders, ensure community notification, conduct sex offender sweeps and verify addresses. The agency places the number of registered national sex offenders at over 700,000, and claims that the whereabouts of 100,000 are unknown.

A brutal pervert who subjected three Cumbrian schoolgirls to horrific sexual abuse was today starting a 12-year jail sentence.

Carlisle Crown Court heard that David Sandham Hodgson, 62, whose offences included raping a girl aged just 11 or 12, had previously served a four-year jail term for abusing four other girls. The defendant gave his terrified victims cigarettes and money after making them perform sex acts. He initially denied all the allegations against him, but eventually pleaded guilty to three sets of offences. As well as the rape and indecent assault of the 11-year-old, he admitted two acts of gross indecency on a girl aged eight or nine; and one act of gross indecency on a girl who was aged 12.

LYNN – A Lynn man was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with repeatedly raping a 12-year-old child. Tony Belcher-White, 18, of 35 Hood St., Lynn, was ordered held without bail Friday at Lynn District Court. He was charged with two counts of rape of a child with force and one count of kidnapping. According to reports, the victim told police that Belcher-White has assaulted her approximately five times over the past two months. The first rape occurred in early September during a party. According to the victim, Belcher-White, who had been drinking heavily during the evening, locked her in a room where she had been using a computer and raped her on the floor.

While the current headlines reflect advanced thinking by the Roman Catholic Church on topics such as condoms and the ‘new princes’ elections, I read little on the Vatican’s response to the issue of sexually abusive clergy during Pope Benedict XVI’s historic meeting of worldwide bishops and cardinals last week. The Pontiff surely realizes that the Church cannot advance while dragging these crimes and the mayhem of conspiracies behind it. Nor can it redirect our attention by disavowing what it has done.

The opportunity for accountability, resolution and a promise for the protection of vulnerable children is now. If this chance for doggedness and truthfulness is lost, then so crumbles another pillar of civilization and hope. And if the Church is unwilling, then perhaps it is justice that it should pay with whatever is left of its integrity.

BAY CITY, MI — A Bay City man charged with sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl has decided not to take his chances with a jury, opting to accept a plea deal instead.  Tuesday, James L. Wujek, 21, appeared before Bay County Circuit Judge Joseph K. Sheeran and pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 13. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a second count of the same charge and a single count of first-degree child abuse, court records show. The charge carries a sentence of seven to 15 years imprisonment. Court records indicate prosecutors are requesting Wujek receive the maximum term of incarceration.
