PATTERSON, CA — Authorities say they have found the body of a young boy abducted two weeks ago from his grandmother’s home. The body was discovered Tuesday morning in the same canal where divers found the car of a man suspected of kidnapping him. A worker doing routine meter checks in the area found the body, and stayed there until law enforcement arrived.

A bond has been set for a step-mother accused of sexually abusing and killing a Mid-Michigan two year old. Renee King has been charged in the death of two year old Lily Furneaux. At first, a judge set no bond but has changed that to a million dollar bond. Lily died in November of last year.

HAMPTON — Hampton police have opened a child abuse investigation into an 11-month-old baby brought into the hospital Saturday with life-threatening injuries. Police responded to a home on Canavan Drive at 6:53 p.m. Saturday after getting a 911 call of an unconscious female infant, said Hampton police spokesman Cpl. Jason K. Price.

LOUISVILLE, KY – A Louisville man is facing criminal abuse charges after investigators say he burned a four-year-old child on purpose. Metro Police say 23-year-old Ramon Buchanan was babysitting the child for his girlfriend at the time of the abuse. According to police, Buchanan burned the child’s bottom with a cigarette because he claimed the child was misbehaving.

A former Calgary scout leader who admitted to running a brothel for pedophiles in Thailand has been sentenced in New Jersey to 25 years in prison. The federal judge on Monday said it was unlikely that John Wrenshall — who had also been convicted of sexual assault involving members of a Calgary boys’ choir in the 1990s — would overcome his desire to molest children.

Police in the state of New Hampshire have arrested a Pelham man on charges that he sexually assaulted a young child over a 5 year period. Robert Kreisz, 37, is accused of assaulting the victim beginning when she was just 6 years old.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A two-and-a-half-year old toddler was slammed into the pavement by his grandmother, who then picked him up and slapped him several times in the parking lot of a convenience store, police alleged. Several witnesses called Chula Vista police Saturday afternoon to report that they saw a woman in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven lose control after she and her grandson got off a bus and the youngster ran from her in the lot. Witnesses said the woman picked up the child, threw him down on the ground, then picked him up and slapped him several times, Lt. Dan Hardman said.

SAN DIEGO — Police Monday arrested the mother of a 9-year-old girl who died two weeks ago from traumatic injuries. Crystal Cardenas, 25, was taken into custody at about 10:30 a.m. as she was walking in Spring Valley, authorities said. She will be booked at Las Colinas Women’s Detention facility on one count of murder, they said.

TOLEDO, OH– A former Toledo priest defrocked for allegedly molesting boys has resurfaced as an organist at a Detroit-area parish. The discovery has enraged local church anti-abuse advocates who say church administrations in Toledo and Detroit aren’t doing enough to protect children. Claudia Vercellotti, a member of SNAP, the Support Network for those Abused by Priests, says this most recent case raises questions about whether the church is doing anything to keep child molesters out.

School volunteer charged with molesting 6 more students — there could be more

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES — A 60-year-old elementary school volunteer who was arrested in mid-January on charges that he molested a student at Highlands Elementary School was accused Friday of sexually abusing at least six more children in Immokalee schools and in his home. Several of the children told investigators that Robert G. Alter, of the 1000 block of Port Orange Way, gave them money and candy to keep quiet.

A four-year-old girl drank herself to death after police believe she was plied with alcohol by her father. Authorities in Georgia said the toddler died from ‘extreme’ alcohol poisoning.
