Brandon Leyte, 19, was employed as an after-school counselor for Meridian Elementary School’s before and after school enrichment (BASE) program. Two West Palm Beach-area parents, in separate incidents, are facing aggravated child abuse charges for allegedly striking their children in an effort to discipline them. Ismmale Petit-Frere, 39, of suburban West Palm Beach, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday after a deputy concluded that she had burned her 14-year-old daughter with an iron and hit her with a belt, leaving permanent marks on her body, according to the arrest report.

Nineteen-year-old Keith Randulich was sentenced today to 40 years in prison for stabbing to death his 4-year-old sister with a steak knife in the basement of their Mokena home. The sentence was less than the life term prosecutors had requested for Randulich, a former Lincoln Way East honor student who said he killed his half-sister the night of May 22, 2009, claiming he wanted to spare her from being molested by a relative.

Authorities are looking for 20-year-old Holly Bobo, a west Tennessee woman who was last seen being dragged from her home by a man dressed in camouflage. Investigators believe Bobo may have been abducted in a home invasion on Wednesday. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says that her 25-year-old brother told investigators that he saw the man dragging his sister across the carport at her family home and toward a wooded area. A letter informed parents this week the teacher found feces on a classroom floor at Webster Elementary School in Belleville March 30.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Mo., mother stabbed her 8-year-old son Tuesday morning and claimed that “God made me do it,” according to Kansas City police.A probable cause statement said that Peggy Ross, 33, is charged with second-degree assault and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, after police said she stabbed her 8-year-old son as he lay in his grandmother’s bed.

NEW ORLEANS — A 42-year-old man has been found guilty of raping a 7-year-old girl. The jury found Terry Winston, 42, guilty of forcible rape. He faces life behind bars without possibility of parole. Christopher Bowman, a spokesman for the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, said Winston raped the victim multiple times about a decade ago.

WAUKEGAN — A 34-year-old man was being held Wednesday on $250,000 bond after being arrested by police for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl under 10 years old. Police said the victim was playing in the neighborhood with other children April 6 when they went over to the suspect’s house.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A man arrested in connection with the rape and kidnapping of an 8-year-old Federal Way girl confessed to taking the girl to his Tacoma home, where he raped her, according to probable cause documents.Federal Way police were called to the girl’s home on Monday for a report of a missing child. Her mother said she was last seen at a playground at Olympic View Elementary School.

LEOMINSTER — A Fitchburg man is facing charges he sexually assaulted four children, ages 3 to 10, in Leominster between July 2009 and February of this year. Leominster District Court Judge Mark Noonan ordered Luis Rodriguez, 43, held on $50,000 cash bail at a bail-review hearing Wednesday. Rodriguez, formerly of Leominster, was arrested Tuesday after a two-week investigation, according to Lt. Michael Goldman. He is charged with eight counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and one count of rape of a child with force.
BOSTON — A 49-year-old Weymouth man has been ordered held on bail after being arraigned on charges he raped a 12-year-old girl in Quincy.William Nichols pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and indecent assault and battery on a child younger than 14 in Quincy District Court, the Patriot Ledger reported. He was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
