Authorities in Homosassa, Florida, have accused a mother and her boyfriend of horrific acts of child abuse against the woman’s 5-year-old son. Crystal Jean Ciampa, 26, along with her boyfriend, Joshua Louis Heater, 26, have been charged on multiple counts of child abuse, child neglect and tampering with a witness, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

An Eden man was charged with child abuse after a 5-month-old infant was admitted to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem with head injuries. Brian Walter Pulliam, 38, of 1206 Second St. was charged Tuesday with intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. According to a news release from the Eden Police Department, investigators were called to the hospital after receiving a request from the Rockingham Department of Social Services.

New Baltimore, MI— A paramedic broke down in tears Wednesday as she recalled an afternoon last year when she entered a New Haven home and found an unclothed and unconscious 2-year-old girl lying in the middle of the living room floor. “She was unresponsive, not breathing and she didn’t have a pulse,” Richmond-Lenox EMS paramedic Katie Eisen said. “I started CPR on her right away.” Eisen tearfully testified about the chaotic scene during the preliminary examination Wednesday of Renee Marie King in New Baltimore District Court. The 29-year-old is charged with felony murder, first-degree child abuse and first-degree criminal sexual conduct on allegations she sexually assaulted and killed her stepdaughter, Lily Lynette Furneaux-Wolfenbarger.

Actor Nicolas Cage may now face a child-abuse investigation as new details from his April 16 arrest for public drunkenness in New Orleans have emerged from a police department’s report. According to People Magazine, Cage’s son, 5-year-old Kal-El, fell and scraped his knee in the midst of the chaos and a child-abuse detective was called to the scene.

Police in the southwest suburbs are searching for the killer of an 18-year-old girl who was nine months pregnant.  Rosemary Newman’s body was found Sunday in a Cook County forest preserve near Calumet City. The medical examiner says Newman was strangled. Her baby did not survive the attack. Newman was days away from giving birth to a baby girl she named Nevaeh, heaven spelled backwards.

BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA — Authorities have identified a 17-year-old girl whose naked body was found in a plastic storage container alongside a freeway off-ramp in the Boyle Heights area. Los Angeles County Coroner’s officials have identified the victim as Michelle Lozano of Los Angeles.

Police arrest mother

SAN ANTONIO — A 24-year-old woman in Frio County has been arrested and charged with injury to a child. Child Protective Services picked up Irene Contreras at the CPS office in Pearsall Wednesday morning. The 18-month old child is in critical condition.

Calif teen found guilty of molesting, drowning boy

FRESNO, CA — A California teenager accused of molesting and drowning a 4-year-old neighbor boy and hiding his body in a clothes dryer was convicted of first-degree murder Friday. A judge also found 15-year-old Raul Castro guilty of lewd and lascivious conduct, and sodomy. The judge found Castro not guilty of two counts of kidnapping. Castro was tried as an adult in the October 2009 killing of Alex Mercado. Castro was 14 when he drowned the preschooler in a bathtub after the child said he would tell his mother about the sexual assault.

(BREAKING NEWS) Man charged with murder in death

Rico Jones was charged with murder today for the death of his stepdaughter, Camryia Arnold, who died in December. Camyria was first brought to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital by Jones, who told doctors she had been acting sluggish and was breathing heavily. At the time, police charged Jones with one count of misdemeanor reckless conduct in that he had previously smoked or possessed marijuana in the child’s presence, but the reckless conduct charge was not directly connected to the child’s death, District Attorney Greg Edwards said.

The search for a man wanted on charges related to assaults on children ended around 3 p.m. Wednesday with the man’s capture near Fordland. Calvin Bloomer, 23, was taken into custody without incident, U.S. Marshals Service supervisory deputy Kelly Palmer said.

Prosecutors called 60-year-old John Rolfe’s victimization of a little girl a case of obsession and control and the jury agreed, finding Rolfe guilty of raping the young girl and possession of child pornography Friday afternoon after a week-long trial. “He didn’t want me to get close to anybody else except him, at all,” his victim testified earlier this week.

Syracuse, NY – A Syracuse doctor who is imprisoned in Cambodia, accused of sexually abusing an underage boy, has been placed on leave without pay from Upstate University Hospital. 56-year-old James D’Agostino was arrested on Feb. 16 by the Phnom Penh anti human trafficking and juvenile protection police on charges that he purchased a child prostitute. D’Agostino was under investigation by the Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) after they received information that he was abusing a boy who he had taken into his care.
