275,000 non-profit organizations tax-exempt statuses have been revoked!! Dreamcatchers would like to assure the public that we are in excellent standing with the IRS. The IRS has published the first Automatic Revocation of Exemption List. It lists approximately 275,000 nonprofits whose tax-exempt status has been revoked because they failed to file a Form 990, 990-N, 990-EZ, or 990-PF for three consecutive years.

What does publication of the list mean to you?

If your organization appears on the list, you must now must file a federal income tax return and pay federal income taxes. If you previously could accept tax-deductible contributions, you no longer can do so.

If your organization is not on the list, technically you don’t have to do anything. This a good time, however, to reach out to your donors, funders, and other constituents and assure them that you are in good standing with the IRS. You may also wish to suggest that your supporters consult the list to ensure that the other nonprofits they give to are still exempt.

We have already incorporated the revocation data into our database and products, and we will automatically update them when the IRS adds new organizations to the list each month.

We have also noted other information about IRS status for every nonprofit in our database. These messages appear on the nonprofit profile pages.

We would like to suggest that our supporters please consult this list to ensure that we, along with other nonprofits you may donate to, are 100% exempt. Check by state & Employer Identification Number (EIN).  Ours is 35-2331592

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

If you cannot find a non-profit organization on the IRS or GUIDESTAR website, they are *NOT* a legitimate, official non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Here is our IRS/Guidestar profile. The best way to SEARCH on the IRS website is by the organization’s EIN number. If they do not have an EIN number, or are not listed on the IRS or Guidestar website, they are NOT legitimate!!!

Childhood Abuse Affects Sleep Patterns in Old Age

Geriatric researchers have discovered that events that took place long ago can disrupt sleep quality among older adults. Suffering from parental abuse as a child increases a person’s chances of having poor sleep quality in old age, according to a research article in the current issue of the Journals of Gerontology Series B: Psychological and Social Sciences. Scientists analyzed information from a sample of 877 adults aged 60 years and above and found that early parental emotional abuse was associated with a higher number of sleep complaints in old age.

COLUMBUS, OH — The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that sexual activity between two children under the age of 13 without force or impairment cannot be defined as rape. In August 2007, a 12-year-old boy was accused of engaging in sexual acts with an 11-year-old boy in Licking County. A young witness said the older, taller boy would bribe the younger one with video games, but the conduct did not occur until the 11-year-old consented, according to the case background.

DENVER – When it comes to accurately interpreting medical findings in suspected cases of child sexual abuse, experience isn’t the only factor. Physicians who have completed a fellowship in child abuse pediatrics appear to fare best, as do clinicians who have an expert review their cases at least quarterly, and those who read the Quarterly Update, a newsletter with reviews of published medical journal articles in the field of child abuse.
