DONGGUAN, China — A Chinese couple is accused of selling their three children in exchange for money to play video games at internet cafes, according to a southern Chinese newspaper. The Sanxiang City News (translated by ABC News, via VideoGamer.com) reports the couple, which met in an internet cafe, sold their second born child, a girl, for less than $500 in 2009.

GREAT FALLS- The child victim of a Friday night child abuse incident has been pronounced brain dead at Benefis hospital in Great Falls. At around 2:40 pm on Friday police were dispatched to 119 Sharon Drive where they found a 15-month old who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Charles Cadwell was subsequently charged with attempted deliberate homicide for the incident.

(CNN) — A man opened fire at a Texas roller skating rink during a birthday party for one of his children, killing his estranged wife and four of her family members before turning the gun on himself, police said Sunday.Tan Do, 35, and Trini Do, 29, were hosting the party at the Roller World Skating Rink in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, Texas, on Saturday for one of their two children, Grand Prairie police said in a statement.

MIAMI — A Miami-Dade County grand jury is urging that the Department of Children and Families adopt better training and investigative skills for employees in the aftermath of the horrific killing of a 10-year-old girl. The jury’s report released Monday says DCF must beef up its law enforcement training for investigators looking into child abuse allegations. The report says DCF hotline counselors must learn how to properly classify cases so the most serious are investigated quickly.

CO.NZ–Immediate action must be taken over the country’s terrible child abuse rate and discussions over the issue should not delay work, critics say. The Government is to launch its Green Paper on child welfare and abuse tomorrow. The discussion document will contain controversial recommendations including questioning the current whanau-first policy for children taken out of their homes, mandatory reporting by professionals, and prioritising parents ahead of others for receiving state services.

A New Orleans woman was arrested at the Magic Kingdom Park in Disney World on Thursday for punching and kicking a one year old child in the stomach. Witnessed who observed the beating notified authorities at the Park who called int he Orange Beach Sheriff’s Department according to WDSU News.  The woman was identified as Jessica Lewis, 26, of New Orleans, LA.  Lewis is accused of punching the one year old child in the stomach and kicking him repeatedly according to the police report.

Sherrill, NY- David L. Trebilcock, a 30-year-old New York man was jailed last week after he brutally stabbed his girlfriend’s 6-year-old daughter to death before stabbing himself in the chest. According to police, 36-year-old Alison Bellus awoke last Tuesday to the sounds of her six-year-old twins (Erica and Lauren) screaming. When Bellus attempted to enter her daughters’ room, she found the door barricaded with a dresser.

GALVESTON, TX — A man intoxicated on bath salts attacked a baby in a shopping cart in a Texas Walmart, police say. Austin Jones, 20, of Pasadena, Texas, was held on $13,000 bond on a felony charge of bodily injury to a child and misdemeanors of resisting arrest and assault by contact, Galveston police told The (Galveston) Daily News. Detective Michelle Sollenberger said Jones approached the woman, who he did not know, as she entered the store with her 11-month-old child Monday afternoon.

A Lexington couple was arrested Thursday in an alleged child abuse case involving their adopted children that dates back to January 2010. Police say Cheryl Christopher, 51, locked a nine-year-old child in a dog cage at the family’s former home on Deauville Drive, and that she also allegedly tried to suffocate two children while trying to strangle them. The arrest report also says the Christopher forced the children to jump off the roof of the home.

D’hanis, Texas– A Medina County constable is making it his mission to find more victims who may have been abused at an unlicensed home-run daycare.  Constable Stephen Duffy of Precinct 3 has been going down the only business strip in town, posting up these flyers that read, ‘if you have ever taken your children to Sophie’s at any time, give him a call’. Constable Duffy said, “We’d like for the parents to come forward, so we can interview the children and find out if anything inappropriate happened to the children”. Sixty six year old Agapito Contreras has already been arrested on one count of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.  The alleged abuse happened at a home in D’hanis that Contreras shared with his wife.
