DOCTORS CHARGED WITH FETAL HOMICIDE

BALTIMORE – Two doctors have been charged with murder after an investigation into a botched abortion uncovered 35 fetuses in a Maryland clinic’s freezer, authorities said on Friday, calling the case the first of its kind in the state. The doctors, Steven Chase Brigham, 55, and Nicola Irene Riley, 46, were arrested on fugitive warrants on Wednesday, police in Elkton, Maryland said.  READ MORE HERE

HURON, S.D. — The shots of alcohol and mixed drinks began flowing in the early morning hours. Three friends — two 14-year-olds and a 12-year-old — were supposed to be babysitting over a Saturday night. Instead, police say, they met up with a bar owner, who drove them to his closed tavern and began pouring them drinks — vodka shots, orange juice and vodka, vodka and coke and energy drinks. Man arrested, charged in connection with death of 29-month-old girl

NEWARK — A 25-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death earlier this week of a 29-month-old baby girl, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said this afternoon. Tyrail Jones, formerly of East Orange, was living with mother of the child, Alexis Robinson, but was not the child’s father, Katherine Carter.  READ MORE HERE

A “DEPRAVED” former police inspector who led a double life encouraging internet paedophiles to sexually assault children has been jailed for 30 months. Geraint Lloyd Evans, 48, was suspended and later sacked by South Wales Police after he admitted the charge against him. The former inspector, who formerly lived at Purdey Close in Barry and Coychurch in Bridgend, was a highly respected officer, commended for bravery.  READ MORE HERE

Second sex abuse suspect priest suspended

Two Dutch priests suspected of child sex abuse have been suspended from Saint Lucas parish, which comprises several Roman Catholic churches in a large rural area of the eastern Netherlands. On Thursday, the archdiocese of Utrecht announced that, as well as Father Bert Sturkenboom, a second priest from Saint Lucas had been suspended following allegations of child sexual abuse. The priest, who conducted services in the church at Putten, had been suspended from his duties for some time, according to the archdiocese.  READ MORE HERE

If, as you were going about your shopping one day, you encountered a young man wheeling a stroller containing what appeared to be a wailing baby and saw that man yell angrily at the baby and violently jerk the stroller around, how would you respond?  Most of us probably hope we would intercede in some way, stopping what appeared to be abusive behavior toward a helpless infant. But if we did do that, we would apparently be unlike a host of people who actually did encounter such a man recently in a crowded New York City store and park. AN IRISH priest responsible for what is believed to be one of the largest ever settlements in a clerical child sex abuse case in the State has been deported to England from Brazil, where he had spent the past eight years. Fr Peter Kennedy (72), a priest with the St Patrick’s Missionary Society at Kiltegan, Co Wicklow, faces child abuse allegations from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s.  READ MORE HERE

ALBANY — A 44-year-old woman stole her 3-year-old grandson’s Christmas gifts and sold them for crack while she was supposed to be baby-sitting him, police said. Andrea Ocasio was arrested early Saturday after her son came home at 3 a.m. to his North Lake Avenue apartment and found the door wide open. The 3-year-old was asleep on a couch by himself, Christmas presents were missing and Ocasio, who was supposed to be watching the boy, was gone.  READ MORE HERE

A Johnson City man arrested Friday on multiple charges of raping an 8-year-old boy was arraigned on the charges Tuesday in Washington County Sessions Court. Kenneth John Wispell, 20, 907 Antioch Road, Apt. 49, is charged with five counts of rape of a child.  READ MORE HERE
