TROY, Ohio — A 39-year old man is accusing of raping his three adopted children and allowing other men to have sex with them. Kenneth Brant is charged with three counts of rape and one of compelling prostitution. TARZANA, CA — A former president of L.A.’s Board of Neighborhood Commissioners was arrested by the FBI Wednesday, after being indicted on child porn charges. 63-year-old Albert Abrams, of Tarzana, faces five counts of distributing child pornography, two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. Disturbing, fresh details about the squalor and abuse endured by 11 children in the Texas ‘house of horrors’ have emerged in a new police report. According to testimony given by two of the children rescued from what appeared to be a regular house in a non-descript street in suburban Dayton, the victims were bound down to dirty mattresses, forced to sleep in rooms with no air and no light, and routinely beaten. Nine of the 11 were between the ages of five months and six years. They were all being neglected and abused in the house where ten adults also lived, the report shows. Meanwhile, it also emerged today that Child Protection Services, which took the children into emergency custody after they were seized on January 24, knew about the sordid living conditions as early as 2005. LOUISVILLE, KY — Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man after they allegedly found illegal movies and images on his computer. According to an arrest report, 18-year-old Cody Huff used file-sharing programs to download movies of child pornography from the Internet. SANTA ANA — A registered sex offender accused of molesting a 5-year-old boy in a public restroom in October was sentenced Monday to nine years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. Nicholas James Needham pleaded guilty in federal court in October to one felony count each of lewd acts on a child under 14. A mother has been accused of injecting her teenage daughters with heroin before sending them off to school. Police were alerted after a witness from the school said the girls, aged 14 and 16, appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Investigators searched Parker’s home in Laurelville, Ohio, and recovered evidence of drug use. Police are hunting a man who beat his girlfriend’s two-year-old son to death because he would not eat his dinner. Juan Garcia, 18, had moved in to the home of Wendy Rogel-Pagasa, 18, in Phoenix, Arizona, only days before he killed her son, Jorge, in a fit of rage. According to court documents released yesterday, Garcia became increasingly angry when the toddler would not eat the food he had brought home last Friday. SAN DIEGO — A prominent Poway attorney and a nurse were sentenced Friday for organizing a scheme to sell babies for $100,000 each. Theresa Erickson, 44, specialized in reproductive law. She pleaded guilty last year to a conspiracy to commit wire fraud. A San Diego federal judge sentenced Erickson to 5 months in prison followed by 7 months of home confinement. She was also fined $70,000 and must undergo 3 years of supervised release. Prosecutors said Erickson and others sold a dozen unborn babies to prospective parents for $100,000 each. READ MORE HERE
A church in Jacksonville, Florida is coming under fire for its controversial decision to ban children from its church services. According to a local Jacksonville news affiliate, Christ Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church has banned children from attending Sunday services because their new pastor, Darrell Gilyard, is a registered sex offender and cannot have contact with children. DETROIT, MI– A fight over a seat at a baby shower triggered the killing of a 9-month-old boy, according to the victim’s grandmother. Delric Miller IV died Monday as he slept on the couch in his home on the 8400 block of Greenview Avenue. Police said someone fired at the house with an AK-47-type assault rifle about 4:30 a.m., leaving behind 37 shells. One of the rounds hit the baby, who was pronounced dead at Sinai-Grace Hospital. A Roman Catholic church official accused of keeping predator priests in ministry and transferring them from parish to parish has requested the case against him dismissed after new evidence shows his list of priests had been destroyed. Facing trial, Monsignor William Lynn created the list of problem priests in 1994, but Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua had it destroyed, according to a defense memo filed Friday. Lynn wants his child endangerment case dismissed because of new evidence turned over by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia which includes one surviving list of the 35 accused priests. READ MORE HERE
