LAUREL — A 30-year-old woman has been charged in connection with child abuse. Lt. Jerome Jackson with the Laurel Police Department said Serita K. Jones, 30, of Laurel, has been arrested in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on Feb. 25th. Jackson said the Laurel Police Department began investigating the case on Monday, Feb. 27th, when it received a report from a neighbor. READ MORE HERE
Parents of Aaron Hatcher, a former special needs student at Roswell High School in Atlanta, Ga., have filed a $10.5 million lawsuit against the district and 15 Fulton County public school employees, claiming their son died after a teacher physically abused him, WGCL-TV reports. READ MORE HERE
A 51-year-old convicted of sexually assaulting three of his own children and a grandchild will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. According to the Denver District Attorney’s Office David Tarver sexually assaulted at least three of his children, dating back to the 1980’s. Last January a jury found Tarver guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, pattern of abuse, and aggravated incest. A former coach at a military school is facing a potential 100 years behind bars after being charged with multiple counts of molesting young boys. A grand jury indicted Louis ‘Skip’ ReVille, who taught summer camps at The Citadel military college in Charleston, South Carolina, on 22 counts of sexual abuse. Riverside, FL – Ethel Anderson, a 29-year-old 5th-grade teacher at Mango Elementary School has been jailed after she allegedly had sex with a 12-year-old boy. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation was launched after the mother of a 12-year-old boy told deputies that her son was sexually involved with a teacher who had been tutoring the boy after school. NEEDLES, CA — San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman Sunday and accused her of trying to kill a 3-year-old boy by setting him on fire. Deputies responded about 9 p.m. to a report of a woman throwing a lit match at a toddler near the intersection of K and Spruce Streets in Needles. They arrived and determined that Elizabeth Smoka, 56, of Mohave Valley, Ariz., threw a rag soaked in gasoline on top of a blanket covering 3-year-old boy while he was in his stroller, according to a sheriff’s news release. A 3-year-old girl was left behind by her parents at a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant and they only realized that they had forgotten her when they saw a report about her on the evening news. Restaurant workers only knew that the girl, identified only as Harmony, was in need of help when she went up to a restaurant worker around 8.30pm Monday night saying that she was thirsty. The parents of twin 1-year-old boys found bound inside their home in Palatka have been charged with child abuse and neglect. One of the boys was admitted to Putnam County Medical Center for observation after the boys were discovered when deputies went to the house on Peniel Church Road looking for another person.
