Family opens up about couple’s murder-suicide in wake of misguided child abuse allegations

A quarter of children have parents with drug or alcohol problems, a year-long study shows. The 3.6million youngsters were found to be seven times more likely to develop  similar problems themselves. Covington, KY – Sarah Jones, a Cincinnati Ben-Gals cheerleader and former Dixie Heights High School teacher, has been indicted on charges she had sex with a student while she was teaching. According to police, Jones had sex with a student while she was a teacher at Dixie Heights High School. She was indicted on a first-degree charge of sexual abuse and one count of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or prohibited acts. WOONSOCKET, R.I. –A 12-year-old Woonsocket girl is recovering from her injuries after her mother told NBC 10 her daughter was lured to a friend’s house and beaten by four other girls. The four girls ranged in age from 12 to 13 years old. The incident, which happened on Saturday afternoon, was caught on camera by someone who taped the attack.  READ MORE HERE

A sheriff and his sergeant in Washington state have bought burial plots next to Josh Powell’s boys in order to block family members from burying him next to them, according to a media report Wednesday. “The bottom line is, Josh Powell will not be near those two boys,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Sgt. Several Wounded in shooting at Oikos University in Oakland (via CNN)

The friendship between two children cost them their lives, as their bodies were recently found in an eastern province of Afghanistan. A 12-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were killed after being doused with acid, purportedly because a friendship had developed between the two children in the extremely conservative country of Afghanistan.  READ MORE HERE

TACOMA, WA—A Tacoma woman is under arrest after police said she called 911 and told the operator she had just killed her child. The child was 2 years old. Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Mark Fulgham said the woman, described only as being in her late 20s, called 911 about 7 a.m. Friday and admitted to the crime.  READ MORE HERE

Sierra Lamar, 15-Years Old, Is Missing

MORGAN HILL, CA — Volunteers searching for missing 15-year old Sierra LaMar have found an empty handcuff box and two used condoms not far from where the teenager’s phone was recovered. The handcuff box and condoms were found on a dead end road by members of a volunteer search crew, the KlaasKids Foundation, on Thursday. LINDEN, CA — Investigators have identified the bodies of 2 women found in an abandoned well believed to be victims of the so-called “Speed Freak Killers” serial murderers. They are Kimberly Billy, 19, and Joanna Hopson, 16. Billy disappeared in December of 1984. Hopson disappeared a year later. RAINN Analysis Shows Only 3 out of 100 Rapists are Convicted

Only three out of every 100 rapists will ever spend even a single day in prison, according to a new analysis by RAINN of Justice Department data. The other 97 will walk free, facing no consequences for the violent felony they have committed. SUTTON COUNTY, Texas — A serial killer who set up a torture chamber in his long haul truck and kidnapped hitchhikers across the country has admitted to two more murders. Convicted killer, Robert Ben Rhoades, pleaded guilty this week to the murders of a newlywed couple from Seattle in 1990. Prosecutors say missionaries Patricia Candace Walsh and her husband Scott Zyskowski were hitchhiking to Georgia when they took a ride from Rhoades near El Paso, Texas.  READ MORE HERE
