It’s an unthinkable crime. A mother harming her child. Police say Carmen Paul, 29, of Shreveport did just that. Now her ten month old is the hospital. Shreveport Police P.I.O. PASADENA, CA — Police arrested a former substitute teacher at a Head Start program in Pasadena for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old girl. Paul LaDuke, the former Schaumburg Christian School teacher accused of fondling himself in class, pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexual exploitation of a child and will receive 30 months of probation, his attorney said. LaDuke, 75, was fired from his job in November shortly after a student reported seeing him fondle himself during an algebra class. Authorities said he had confessed to engaging in similar conduct over the past 10 years, though he had never before been the subject of a complaint.  READ MORE HERE

One mother and her boyfriend get arrested for molesting her two daughters. Unnamed mother, 31, and her boyfriend, 29, were arrested in Florida after the woman’s two daughters were found in filthy rooms, a 7-year old girl with a broken ankle that had not been treated, using a cane to walk, and a 4-year old with a learning disability who had been molested by her mom’s boyfriend.  READ MORE HERE

A man beats his infant daughter to death for not being a son.

Baby Nehan Afreen, only three months old, died on Wednesday morning in Bangalore after her father Umar Farooq, 25, tortured her for not being a boy. Afreen was admitted to the hospital with cigarette burns and a dislocated neck. She had multiple convulsions, ultimately aggravating a cardiac arrest, which ended the child’s life. READ MORE HERE

Torture or Therapy?  Doctors in Dedham, MA used a form of electro-shock “therapy ,” to help “treat,” disabled Andre McCollins, 18, inside his high school, shocking him over 31 times in the span of a few hours as punishment for laughing at his teachers. RESISTENCIA, Argentina — A premature baby was found alive in the morgue, 12 hours after being pronounced dead. The mother, Analia Bouter, was told by doctors in a hospital in the Chaco region that her baby was stillborn. WASHINGTON – A child pornography suspect has been placed on the FBI‘s Ten Most Wanted Fugitive list to replace al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was killed by U.S. forces last year. Eric Justin Toth, 30, a former private school teacher, was indicted in 2008 in Maryland on one count related to producing child pornography, according to court records. PLATTE CITY, MO — A Platte County jury found a Platte City man guilty of child abuse and possession of child pornography following a week-long trial. After deliberation Friday, the jury recommended James Marquis, 44, spend up to 28 years in prison. “This defendant required a teenage girl to stand in the corner for approximately 10 hours a day for nearly a month. The jury correctly found that was cruel and inhuman punishment, for which he deserves a lengthy prison sentence,” Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd said in a news release. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Washington County Child Protection Citizen Review Panel is providing some important information regarding child care arrangements to promote the idea that “It’s not Safe for Kids Under Eight.”

While it is recognized that most parents want to keep their children safe, in these trying financial times, parents are often forced to make many changes concerning child care arrangements. Law enforcement and child protection services across the state frequently receive phone calls requesting information on how old children must be to be left home alone, or to babysit other children.

Child neglect reports alleging inadequate supervision may be accepted for a child protection response, including:

• children age 7 and younger who are left alone for any period of time;
• children ages 8-10 who are left alone for more than three hours;
• children ages 11-13 who are left alone for more than 12 hours;
• children ages 14-15 who are left alone for more than 24 hours;
• children ages 16-17 may be left alone for more than 24 hours with a plan in place concerning how to respond to an emergency.

Neglect reports alleging inadequate child care arrangements may be accepted for a child protection response according to the following guidelines:

• children younger than age 11 should not provide child care (babysitting);
• children ages 11-15 who are placed in a child care role are subject to the same time restrictions of being left alone as listed above;
• children ages 16-17 may be left alone for more than 24 hours with adequate adult back-up supervision.

KING SENTENCED FOR 2010 RAPE, MURDER & CHILD ABUSE CHARGE

On the day Renee King was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2010 sexual assault and murder of her stepdaughter, the 2-year-old girl’s mother finally got to confront her. Reading from a prepared statement today in Macomb County Circuit Court, Lauren Furneaux told King, who was shackled and wore a blue jail jumper, of the pain she had caused and said she was glad that King would miss the milestones in the lives of King’s three children that Furneaux would miss because of Lily Furneaux-Wolfenbarger’s death.
