BALTIMORE -Baltimore City police are investigating how a mother was able to enter a Department of Social Services building with a knife that she later used to stab her infant child.  The stabbing occurred at the DSS building in the 3000 block of East Biddle Street shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday.  Officers said when they arrived they found a child, who is about 8 months old, with multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck. A Temecula man allegedly raped and abused a girl for more than a decade and kept photographs of himself wearing her underwear, records recently released show. Javier Cortez, 45, was arrested on suspicion of sodomy and lewd and lascivious behavior involving force with a person younger than 14, continual sexual abuse of a child younger than 4, forced oral copulation, driving without a license, speeding, failing to appear and misdemeanor indecent exposure, according to jail records. Maybe it’s his doleful look that snagged Pecos a dream job, which basically entails sleeping. “Kids think if he can sleep here, it must be a safe place,” said his handler, Michele Thames. The place is the Child Abuse Program at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, and Pecos is a Labrador and golden retriever mix who helps Thames in her job as a forensic interviewer. Pecos sits with children on a carpeted bench while they tell their stories of abuse, allowing them to rub his ears or bury their faces in his neck. ALBUQUERQUE – Police have arrested a man accused of beating up a 3-year-old boy.  Albuquerque police were called to a house on the 300 Block of Texas around noon Saturday. The child’s mother called police saying her boyfriend had hit her child over and over again while she was in the shower. READ MORE HERE

The mother of an 11-month-old boy hospitalized with skull fractures, a broken clavicle and puncture wounds in his feet from toothpicks has been charged with multiple counts of felony child abuse. Michelle Feliciano, 23, of the 5400 block of North Monitor Avenue, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a child causing permanent disability, one count of aggravated battery to a child causing great bodily harm and misdemeanor endangering the life and health of a child, according to police News Affairs. KENTUCKY–A Manchester doctor has been charged with producing child pornography. Kentucky State Police and the FBI began an investigation on Thursday of possible sexual abuse by Dr. Kishore Jadhav. On Friday, during a follow-up to that investigation, police determined that Jadhav had allegedly produced pornography involving a minor. READ MORE HERE

The Department of Children and Family Services and police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old Mount Prospect girl who died three days after she was found unresponsive at a Hoffman Estates day care center. Anna Belle Chung was unconscious and was not breathing when paramedics arrived at the day care center, which was run out of a private home, Wednesday morning, said Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod. Kershaw, SC  — A mother and her live in boyfriend have been arrested and charged with unlawful conduct towards a child. The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department says 24-year-old Catharine Ammons and 27-year-old James Watson Ammons were arrested after their 4-year-old daughter suffered two broken arms and a broken leg from being severely abused over several months. Stockport Mayer Michael Shane Shuster, 38,  has pleaded not guilty to 30 counts of sexual imposition, sexual battery and rape of a 10-year-old female relative on Wednesday. Shuster is being accused of executing these rapes since October 2006, when the girl was just 10 years old.  READ MORE HERE

Penn State Official Fired Over Jerry Sandusky Child Abuse Investigation

The firing of a Penn State athletics official was connected to the investigation into the child sexual abuse case at the university, said two persons familiar with the situation. Mark Sherburne, an associate athletic director, was fired this week, said the people who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to speak publicly about the matter. Anderson, Indiana  – William Everage, 37, and his girlfriend Jessica Tooley, 30, have been jailed after they molested several underage children, including Tooley’s daughter. Everage, a three-time convicted sex offender was jailed in late March after he failed to register as a sex offender after he was released from prison. Convicted child murderer Marcus Reymond Robinson has his sentence changed to life without parole in a blistering ruling that accuses state prosecutors of systematic discrimination.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — In a landmark ruling, a North Carolina judge on Friday vacated the death penalty of a black man convicted of murder, saying prosecutors across the state had engaged in deliberate and systematic racial discrimination when striking black potential jurors in death penalty cases.
