Shelbyville, Ind. – Bethany Appleton, a 28-year-old teacher at Shelbyville Middle School has been jailed after she allegedly had sex with multiple students after providing them with alcohol and marijuana. A 20-year-old woman took a baby to hospital with a fractured skull, a black eye, bruises and bite marks. Aadriane Dixon, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested after police decided the 13-month-old boy’s injuries were consistent with child abuse. Dixon is the child’s sole caregiver, although her relationship to the boy is unknown. She waited for two hours after the baby suffered the injuries before seeking medical help.  READ MORE HERE

BROOKLYN, NY — A former New York butcher pleaded guilty Thursday to second degree murder and kidnapping in the second degree, after abducting, smothering and dismembering an 8-year-old boy in the Hasidic Jewish enclave of Borough Park. Melvin Morse, a well known pediatrician and researcher in near-death experiences in children, waterboarded his 11-year-old daughter by forcing her face under a running faucet while the mother simply stood by and watched. Efrey Antonio Guzman, a 46-year-old LDS church leader, was arrested after breaking into a family’s home, sexually abusing the mother and bitting the woman’s 20-year-old son in his genitals. According to the Deseret News, the 13-year-old daughter of the family reported that on May 8th, Guzman came into their home when only the son and daughter were there, grabbed the girl, and started kissing her and squeezing her buttocks. Baby Found Living In CAGE Overrun With Cockroaches – Home Infested With Neglected and Dead Animals

The police arrived at a home to find a dead horse, multiple other mistreated dogs, cats, and horses, and a 1-year-old child with cockroaches crawling out of her diaper and covering her head, locked up in a cage. Seven children in 4 states die after being left in hot cars

The five-day period from August 2 – 6 brought tragedy to families in Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida and New Mexico as 7 children died of heat stroke after being left in hot vehicles. According to KidsAndCars.org, a national nonprofit child safety organization working to prevent injuries and deaths of children in and around motor vehicles, the 7 heat stroke deaths recorded were:

• On Aug. 2 in Smyrna, Tenn., a boy, 3, and girl, 2, died after being left in their mother’s vehicle.
• On Aug. 2 in Tamarac, Fla., a boy, 4, died after being left behind in a daycare van.
• On Aug. 3 in Springdale, Ark., a boy, 2, died after being left in his great-grandparents’ vehicle.
• On Aug. 3 in Newport, Ark., a girl, 16 months, died in a hot vehicle.
• On Aug. 4 in Benton County, Ark., a boy, 3, died after getting into a vehicle and not being able to escape.
• On Aug. 6 in Albuquerque, N.M., a boy, 2, died after being left in a daycare parking lot.

WESTLAKE, Ohio – An Ohio man was arrested Saturday night after police say he brought weapons into a movie theater. Scott A. Smith, 37, entered the 10 p.m. showing of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ with a bag full of ammo and knives, according to Westlake police. Jeremiah Bullins, an off-duty Westlake police officer, noticed and searched Smith’s bag. He found three knives in the bag, as well as a loaded 9 mm Glock handgun, two additional loaded magazines, and a fourth knife under his clothes. Each magazine had 17 rounds.  READ MORE HERE

Farmington, N.H. – Laura Faas, a 51-year-old New Hampshire woman was charged Friday with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy over a period of several years. According to Farmington police, Faas sexually assaulted an 11-year-old boy over the span of several years – and on at least one occasion – held the boy down while sexually assaulting him.  After setting up a Facebook page for his 6-year-old daughter, Michael Marcinanis reported that the girl was targeted by online child predators. According to WSBTV.com, Marcinanis set up the page so his daughter could keep in touch with her grandparents and other relatives, although she added people she did not know. Man Sought for Trying to Trade Baby for Food

ORANGE PARK, FLA — Police are searching for a man who witnesses say went door-to-door at a motel offering to exchange a baby for food. GARDEN GROVE — A woman has been arrested after allegedly trying to steal a newborn baby from a Garden Grove hospital. Police say the suspect, posing as an employee at the Garden Grove Medical Center, was spotted earlier in the day on the third floor of the hospital, which is Labor and Delivery. She was confronted by another employee and left the floor. It’s believed the suspect, described as a Hispanic woman, then went to the third floor where the mothers and their new babies are located.  READ MORE HERE
