Indeed, a bright future for Harlan until Wednesday when the 18-year-old was charged with the rape of a child. New Jersey police have identified a child whose skeletal remains were found in 2005 and charged three people, including her aunt and uncle, on Wednesday with covering up her death. Authorities said the body was that of 9-year-old Jon-Niece Jones, who was abused and died at her aunt’s New York City home in August 2002. READ MORE HERE

A Republican politician personally endorsed by vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is today at the center of a storm after a controversial interview emerged in which he relayed his father’s advice that ‘some girls rape easy.’ Desperately trying to control the damage, Wisconsin state Rep. Roger Rivard, claimed that repeating his father’s comments were meant as a warning that a woman could agree to sex but then later claim it wasn’t consensual. However, the backlash has been severe, with Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan announcing today he was withdrawing his support for the embattled representative who is running for re-election. An inmate on death row used his last breath to protest his innocence of the murder of a 12-year-old girl as he was executed in Texas last night despite his legal team arguing he was mentally ill. Jonathan Green, 44, was jailed for the abduction, rape and strangling of Christina Neal, 12, whose body was found at his home a month after she was reported missing in 2000. Several last ditch appeals were made on the basis of his mental health in an attempt to save him from the death penalty but Green was given a lethal injection after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the arguments to spare him. Authorities combing Pattridge Park open space in Arvada, Colorado discovered a body Wednesday evening, but will not say if it is the body of missing Westminster 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway who disappeared on Friday on her way to school. On Wednesday, around 6:40 p.m., Westminster Police Department tweeted the following new information in the ongoing investigation: This afternoon a body was discovered near the Pattridge Park Open Space in the City of Arvada.  READ MORE HERE

WAYNE — An Essex County sheriff’s officer has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing two minors. Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes says 48-year-old Thomas Ingham of Wayne was arrested Thursday. Prosecutors say Ingham allegedly sexually assaulted two family friends when they were between the ages of eight and 14 years-old. READ MORE HERE

NEWPORT BEACH — A professional clown was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in state prison for raping a girl a decade ago in Fullerton. Jose Guadalupe Jimenez, 43, of Anaheim pleaded guilty to one felony count of a lewd act upon a child under 14 and one felony count of a forcible lewd act on a child under 14. “He will be required to register as a sex offender for life. The negotiated plea was a result of the totality of the evidence of the case, availability of witnesses and wishes of the victim,” according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.  READ MORE HERE

A doctor testified today that a mother who glued her two-year-old daughter’s hands to a wall also beat the toddler so badly that she suffered significant brain trauma and bleeding inside her skull. Elizabeth Escalona pleaded guilty on July 12 to injury to a child. The 23-year-old mother is being sentenced today. She faces up to life in prison. A state district judge will decide her punishment. The doctor showed photos of the beaten child in court this morning in which she had bruises, cuts and bite marks all over her body shortly after she was brought to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Syracuse, NY – Heather Lacey, a 25-year-old New York woman was jailed Wednesday after she allegedly locked her toddler son in a bedroom for up to 22 hours a day without supervision or access to a bathroom. According to DeWitt Police, an investigation was launched on Monday after detectives received a tip that alleged a woman was keeping her son locked inside a small bedroom unattended for long periods of time. MOBILE, Alabama — Authorities are investigating why a University of South Alabama officer fatally shot an 18-year-old freshman who they say was naked and acting erratically outside the campus police station early Saturday. With few details of the shooting in the Gulf Coast city of Mobile, the student’s mother and one of his friends said they could not understand how a six-year varsity wrestler and good-natured teenager could have died under such strange and sad circumstances. ANAHEIM  — A 50-year-old Spanish teacher has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of having illegal sex with an underage student. A defenseless 3-week-old baby girl was mauled to death by a pit-bull in west Detroit this past Thursday.
