Dustin Alton Kent, of Alabama, has been accused of raping his then 13-year-old niece, while her father looked on. Police allege that in the 2008 incident, the young girl was taken by her father, under the guise of a trip to the pet store, to a dark back road where he allowed his brother to kiss and rape her. OKLAHOMA CITY – A registered sex offender from Texas was caught in Oklahoma City trying to meet an 8-year-old girl for sex. Police say 34-year-old Scott Froedge of Arlington, Texas, arranged the meeting through social media. He was arrested Friday near 50th and Northwest Expressway. Investigators have confiscated Froedge’s phone and his vehicle as evidence. He was taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.  READ MORE HERE

Delos J. Holmes, 36, of Plymouth, was charged Friday with first-degree criminal sexual act and second-degree rape, both felonies, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, troopers said. (Memphis) – A Memphis mother is charged with four counts of Aggravated Child Abuse after police say she went too far when she disciplined her children. Officers say 34-year-old Lawanda Wilson crossed the line when she used a belt and extension cord, but her neighbors say what she’s accused of doing before that is even more disturbing. Duct tape, a belt, and an extension cord are all items allegedly used as weapons by Wilson who claims to police she was trying to discipline her children. Ron Morgan and Kerry Lewis grew up in adjoining states — one in Idaho, the other in Oregon. Both belonged to Boy Scout troops during the 1980s, and decades later, both alleged in lawsuits that the Scouts failed to protect them and other boys against known molesters, citing detailed evidence from the organization’s confidential files. In 2010, Lewis won a jury verdict of nearly $20 million against the Scouts, the largest such award in the organization’s history. Morgan’s case was never considered on its merits. Pedophiles have a ‘mental illness’ that can be spotted before they abuse anyone, new research claims. Experts believe they can identify a potential offender through MRI and IQ tests, and treat the pedophile before they attack a youngster. Some believe that they can even ‘cure’ pedophiles, who may have an abnormality in their brains that means they struggle to differentiate between sexual objects.  READ MORE HERE

A pedophile who abused up to 3,500 boys over a 35-year period has died in prison. William Goad, 68, from Plymouth, Devon, who was jailed for life in 2004, died of natural causes at HMP Albany on the Isle of Wight, according to the Prison Service. The wealthy businessman is thought to have been Britain’s most prolific child abuser, with his sick assaults causing two of his victims to commit suicide. Goad was previously described in court as a ‘voracious, calculating, predatory and violent homosexual pedophile’ who boasted of beating his own ‘record’ of abusing 142 boys in a year. READ MORE HERE

Schoolgirl Can Stand, Communicate

London — Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousufzai stood for the first time after her shooting Friday morning and is “communicating very freely,” according to the director of the UK hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Malala can’t talk because she has a tracheotomy tube inserted to protect her airway, which was swollen after her gunshot injury, but she is writing coherent sentences, said Dave Rosser, director of University Hospitals Birmingham. “We have no reason to believe she won’t be able to talk when the tube is out, which may be in the next few days,” he said.  READ MORE HERE

Contaminated Medicine Responsible for Fungal Meningitis Outbreak

With the toll from the fungal meningitis outbreak up to 21 dead and 247 sickened, and as the compounding facility responsible for fungus-tainted drugs is hit with a lawsuit, researchers have looked back at the first case that alerted them to the disease. Their results were published online Friday in the New England Journal of Medicine. The epidural steroid injections were produced at the New England Compounding Center, which shut down production and recalled all its products Oct. 6. About 14,000 patients are believed to have received injections. (The company is now being sued by Peter McGrath, a former federal prosecutor, on behalf of an unnamed plaintiff in Boston, according to the Chicago Tribune.)  READ MORE HERE

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A Huntington Beach mother and father are pleading for help in finding whoever severely beat their son. 20-year-old Ted Currie was helping a friend who was deejaying a party at Skyhi Clothing in Santa Ana on September 29. SUPERIOR, Colo. — Two weeks ago, 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway disappeared. Last week, police said she was dead. Now, they are asking for the public’s help to identify a cross that authorities say could lead to her killer. Police from the girl’s hometown of Westminster, Colorado, on Friday released several images of a wooden cross recovered during the investigation. It is about 1 1/2 inches tall and 1 inch wide, with a hole drilled through it so it can be worn as a pendant.  READ MORE HERE

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles police are turning to social media for help identifying dozens of women seen in photos found at the home of the alleged Grim Sleeper” serial killer. Forty-two photographs found at the home of suspect Lonnie Franklin Jr. were be posted on Facebook and Twitter on Thursday. The photos, taken between 1976 and 2010, were among about 1,000 photos seized from Franklin’s home when he was arrested in July 2010. Researched ‘Evil Ways’ to Force Miscarriage

LOS ANGELES  — A prominent restaurateur is charged with attempted murder after allegedly poisoning his former girlfriend to cause her to miscarry their child. Joshua Woodward, 40, an investor in Los Angeles and Miami restaurants including the old Table 8, has pleaded not guilty to four counts of attempted murder in the 2009 case. Prosecutors say that Woodward, who is from a prominent Chicago family that owns Churchill Downs, begged his girlfriend to voluntarily terminate her pregnancy.  READ MORE HERE
