A father has gone on trial for allegedly beating and starving his three-year-old daughter to death – three years after her bruised, malnourished body was found at his home. Donald Lee Cockrell, 30, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Alexis Marie Pounder with his fiancee, Michelle Nicole Smith, in Sandy, Oregon in January 2010. Smith pleaded guilty to the killing last year and faces a minimum of 30 years behind bars, and as part of the plea deal she will testify against Cockrell. The standoff went through the night after the man, whose name has not been released by police, boarded the stopped school bus in the town of Midland City on Tuesday afternoon. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico woman and her boyfriend locked up an 8-year-old girl with developmental disabilities in a wooden cage, then left her alone while they headed out to watch a movie, police said Tuesday. Cindy Patriarchias and Edmond Gonzales took her three children to an elementary school Friday to watch the movie, a police report said. A mother has been arrested after she was allegedly filmed beating up a 12-year-old girl who had arranged to fight her daughter after school. Amber Lee Gutierrez, 33, surrendered to police after cell phone footage emerged showing her viciously attacking the young girl in a San Pedro, California alleyway on January 14. The video, first aired by local station KTLA, allegedly shows Gutierrez dragging the young girl along the ground before punching her across the back in an attack that left the child with a broken arm. The British baby allegedly battered to death by her nanny may have been abused for many weeks, it emerged yesterday. Tests on Rehma Sabir’s body showed up injuries that were still healing when she died in an American hospital on her first birthday. A London secondary school repeatedly ignored warnings that a music teacher was sexually abusing young female pupils, a court heard today. Convicted pedophile Michael Crombie, 75, was accused by a series of girls and their parents whilst working at Wanstead High School, yet head teachers refused to take action. She was just doing her job… A pregnant Oklahoma paramedic, Joanna Hickerson, 30, was on duty one night when a man in the back of the ambulance, Paul Ronald Heatley, 58, assaulted her and continually kneed her in the abdomen, killing her baby. The bodies of two girls were found dumped on a street. Two girls, aged 6 and 12, were found on a residential street in the capital, Guatemala City, apparently strangled and still in their pajamas. According to Daily Mail,  707 women were killed in Guatemala in 2012, a significant increase from 431 in 2011, according to the human rights group Mutual Support, which tracks violence in that nation.
