PONTIAC, Mich. – Sandra Layne, the 75-year-old Detroit-area woman convicted of murder in the fatal shooting of her teenage grandson, was sentenced to at least 22 years in prison Thursday, despite a plea from her lawyer that she may not survive a long stay. Layne got a minimum sentence of 20 years for second-degree murder, along with a mandatory two-year sentence for using a gun to kill 17-year-old Jonathan Hoffman. A Kenner man has been arrested and booked with aggravated incest and molestation for allegedly raping two of his stepdaughters and fathering at least five children with the girls.NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune is not identifying the 51-year-old suspect to protect the identities of the victims, who are now 22 and 26, according to Sgt. Brian McGregor, spokesman for the Kenner Police. The sisters contacted authorities in early March to report the more than 13 years of abuse. New York Police Chief And Librarian Charged In Plot To Murder Women And Children

A former New York City high school librarian and a Department of Veterans Affairs police chief from Massachusetts are accused in a plot to kidnap and torture women with tools including a taser, a meat hammer, pliers and speculums, officials announced Monday. The librarian, Robert Christopher Asch, used to work at Stuyvesant High School, officials said. The other man, Richard Meltz, is the chief of police at the Bedford VA Medical Center. The FBI says the men responded last October to online solicitations. A man said he wanted help him kidnap, rape and kill his wife and sister-in-law and her children. Federal prosecutors say Asch met with undercover FBI agents several times in recent months to carry out what he thought was a plan to kidnap and torture a woman, and twice brought a bag of items he thought would be useful, including a black ski mask, a taser, handcuffs, a hammer, pliers, and forceps. JONESBORO, AK  – Law enforcement officers have arrested 11 people in northeast Arkansas on rape and child pornography charges involving a 12-year-old girl. Jonesboro Police Sgt. A lawsuit was filed Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court on behalf of the parents of three special needs children against a former teacher and the Livonia Public Schools for the teacher’s alleged abuse of special needs students. The 177-page complaint alleges criminal child abuse, neglect and civil rights violations. The suit seeks in excess of $75,000 in several counts. The complaint alleges that on multiple occasions in 2010-2011 and 2011-12 school years that teacher Sharon Turbiak used her position as an educator to “physically and/or mentally abuse” three of the plaintiffs who were identified as M.D. Doe, K.H. WICHITA, Kansas — A 1-month-old Wichita girl is in the hospital with broken ribs in a case of suspected child abuse. Police were called Monday afternoon to Wesley Hospital. Doctors said the injuries to the infant weren’t consistent with the story the parents had given that the baby was accidentally dropped on Sunday. A young girl and her family were threatened by people of “higher class.” Shortly after a 10-year-old Indian girl filed a rape charge against Lodhe Rajputs, a man of higher social status, she was locked behind bars and told that she would be stoned to death if her family did not withdraw the charge. According to The Huffington Post, the girl’s mother had found her unconscious in a field and brought her to a local police station, where she was incarcerated for nearly 20 hours. A judge has condemned the Church of England and social services for a cover-up that allowed a vicar who sexually abused a teenage orphan to escape justice for 26 years. John Yallop, a married father of four, had been offering bereavement counselling to the 16-year-old girl just months after she lost her entire family. He admitted the abuse, which took place over two months, when confronted by a social worker. But instead of reporting him to police, the Bishop of Sheffield and social services chiefs hushed up the scandal and Yallop, then 40, was allowed to leave his job and move away from the area to restart his life. The victim, now aged 42, has suffered depression and suicidal thoughts ever since. A former Metropolitan Police PCSO with a 13 year history of child sex abuse that began when he was just 12 years old has been jailed.  Billy Wheatley, 25, videoed himself on a mobile phone abusing a girl aged just five or six and recorded sexual assaults while wearing a hidden camera.  He was working for the force in Bromley when he committed some of the series of offences that spanned 13 years. He admitted 18 sex crimes dating back to 2000, including two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration.
