Las Vegas, California — A 16-month-old baby girl is dead and the person who was supposed to be watching her is now charged with murder. This incident is the latest in a recent string of murders involving young kids being beaten to death. Investigators said Detrail Young admitted shaking his girlfriend’s sister’s baby after she started crying earlier this week. The arrest report details Young demonstrated with a doll what happened. Lafayette, Louisiana —  A Carencro man has been charged with raping a 5-year-old boy and possibly giving the child AIDS, according to records with the Lafayette Parish District Attorney’s Office. Conwell Cormier, 29, was indicted by a Lafayette Parish grand jury this past week on one count of aggravated rape and one count of exposing the child to AIDS, records show. Cormier, whose address was 241 Beau Basin Road, Apartment 13 in Carencro, has been in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center since his arrest on April 1.  READ MORE HERE

West Springfield, Massachusetts — A UMass police officer is facing a number of charges, including child rape, following his arrest Thursday. 49-year-old George Colon of West Springfield was arrested Thursday night on a warrant, charging him with two counts of open and gross lewdness, rape of a child, sodomy, and enticing a child under the age 16. Colon was arrested at his home in West Springfield, with the assistance of his UMass Police supervisor and another officer. Man to be arraigned for sexually molesting 3-year-old daughter

JACKSON, MI – A Blackman Township man is to be arraigned Monday afternoon on several counts of criminal sexual conduct for allegedly sexually assaulting his 3-year-old daughter. He would take showers with the girl and told Blackman-Leoni Township public safety detectives Christopher Boulter and Joseph Merritt that he may have attempted to have sex with her six times. He said it happened “too many times to remember,” according to a petition seeking to remove the girl from the care of her mother and father, who were living at the Avalon Hotel, 2000 Bondsteel Drive. Police: Body found during search for missing Charlestown girl

Officials at the Maryland State Police North East barrack confirmed Monday evening that a body was found by searchers, but did not say whether or not the body was that of a missing 10-year-old Charlestown girl. Troopers and K-9 search teams were seen scouring the area around a Port Deposit-area home throughout Monday afternoon and evening. High school freshman Kathlynn Shepard had been missing since May 20 when she and a 12-year-old friend were lured into a pickup truck.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities confirmed Sunday that a body found in the Des Moines River was that of a 15-year-old Iowa girl who was abducted along with a younger friend after getting off a school bus last month. An autopsy confirmed the body found Friday night under a bridge near Boone is Kathlynn Shepard’s. A dog has been hailed a hero for saving the life of a newborn girl who had been slung into a rubbish dump. The animal, a Thai Bangkaew called Pui, discovered the child inside a plastic bag at the roadside tip in Bangkok. He carried the bag in his mouth to his owner Gumnerd Thongmak’s house and barked loudly to get his attention. Mr Gumnerd’s niece, Sudarat, 12, then opened the bag and found the tiny baby inside and she was rushed to hospital. On the morning of June 5, a Jiaxing city Haining county netizen reported that a mother prepared to commit suicide after slashing her son’s neck only to have the perceptive son, in order to save his mother, ignore his own injury, get up, and try to wrestle the knife away from his mother. During the struggle for the knife, the son’s hands were cut by the sharp knife. Perhaps as a result of love reawakening reason, the mother subsequently called the police. At present, after emergency medical treatment and surgery, both mother and son are out of life-threatening danger. It is not known what caused the massive brawl. Cell phone videos recorded the huge fight that occurred on the last day of school at Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois in which as  many as 300 students took part and which required the Sheriff’s office and 40 officers from neighboring towns to handle; at least ten students were arrested — one handling a knife — and three were hospitalized. A group of alleged thugs are behind bars after they attempted to have sex with two underage girls, record it on video and then put evidence of the alleged crime on the Internet, where one of the girls’ teachers at an Oregon junior high school saw it and reported it to authorities.  The video of the two girls – one of whom was a 12-year-old seventh-grader at Centennial Middle School in Portland – found its way to the Facebook pages of students at another middle school within the same district, where a social media-savvy teacher spotted it on one of his student’s Facebook pages, recognized one of the girls as an underage student and told the school’s principal. It didn’t take long for authorities to identify the adult men in the video, one of whom is a known gang member with the ‘Unthank Park Hustlers.’ READ MORE HERE

A mother already charged with selling her toddler to a man who used her to make child pornography has been accused of doing the same with another daughter. The Gary woman, 24, was charged in March for selling her 18-month-old daughter for an undisclosed sum to Christopher Bour, 39, allegedly knowing she would be used in porn films.  However an indictment filed on Wednesday against the mother adds a second count of selling a child and permitting her to participate in pornography. Child porn teacher is allowed back in the classroom

A teacher who downloaded child porn has been allowed to resume his career by the Department for Education. Geoffrey Bettley, 36, was sacked, given a police caution and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register after  admitting viewing sickening images over several years. But a professional conduct panel said the married RE teacher could return to the classroom because of his ‘excellent teaching’. A senior official, acting on  behalf of Education Secretary Michael Gove, rubber-stamped the decision, saying there was a ‘need to be proportionate and to act in the public interest’. Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins had his day in court today, after being formally charged with 32 counts including sexual offenses against children. The singer denied any involvement in all counts and plead not guilty. According to reports from local media, the 35-year-old performer had an hour-long hearing at the Cardiff Crown Court this morning where he made a statement through his attorneys. A former Coronation Street actor ‘used his status’ to ‘flatter and gain the trust’ of a 14-year-old boy whom he went on to indecently assault on a number of occasions, a court heard today. Andrew Lancel, 42, best known for his role as Frank Foster in the ITV soap, is accused of six counts of indecent assault of a child under the age of 16. The charges relate to one male victim and the offending allegedly took place between 1993 and 1994 when he was aged 14 and 15, Liverpool Crown Court heard. It allegedly occurred before the actor joined Coronation Street in 2010.
