Nigeria — Islamic militants attacked a boarding school before dawn Saturday, dousing a dormitory in fuel and lighting it ablaze as students slept, survivors said. At least 30 people were killed in the deadliest attack yet on schools in Nigeria’s embattled northeast. Authorities blamed the violence on Boko Haram, a radical group whose name means “Western education is sacrilege.” The militants have been behind a series of recent attacks on schools in the region, including one in which gunmen opened fire on children taking exams in a classroom. Toddler Tortured, Murdered by Mother’s Boyfriend

A three-year-old girl died after suffering ‘indescribable atrocities’ allegedly at the hands of her mother’s boyfriend which included a skull fracture, bite marks, burns, trauma to her genitals and swollen eyes.  Carroll Bumgarner-Ramos, 29, from Willimantic, Connecticut, has been charged with first-degree assault and risk of injury. More serious charges are expected to be filed pending autopsy results. The paramedic who treated the toddler at the scene said her injuries were the worst he’d seen on a child in his 21-year career. The girl was in cardiac arrest and didn’t breathe during the ambulance ride to Windham Hospital, the paramedic told police. DURANGO, Colorado — Teams looking for a 13-year-old boy last seen in November during a visit with his father have found his remains in southwest Colorado, La Plata County sheriff’s officials said Thursday. Authorities said Wednesday that a five-day search for signs of Dylan Redwine ended with the teams finding several undisclosed items. Some of the items included bones, they said Thursday. Woman emailed  sex tapes to others – Investigators are looking for anyone who paid money for the videos

CINCINNATI — An Ohio woman blamed diet supplements after police accused her of filming herself sexually abusing her young daughter and emailing the videos to others, police records showed Monday. The 32-year-old was indicted Monday on multiple charges, including rape and pandering. ‘Too horrific’: The judge overseeing the case said she accepted the plea agreement only because the videos were too horrific to show a jury

An Australian man accused of making child pornography with a boy he purchased in a foreign country and allowing other men to sexually abuse the child was sentenced Friday in U.S. federal court in Indiana, where the videos were found downloaded on a home computer. The 42-year-old man, who investigators say used falsified documents to adopt the boy after bringing him to the U.S., was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges involving child exploitation. The judge overseeing the case said she accepted the plea agreement only because the videos were too horrific to show a jury. TAMPA – An 8-year-old boy was found beaten and tied to a table with zip ties in a Tampa home, police say. A suspect is in custody. The discovery was made after the Department of Children and Families received a complaint of possible child abuse. Police officers and DCF personnel went to a home on Coral Bay Road where, according to a statement,  they found the 8-year-old “with injuries consistent with being struck numerous times with a belt and extension cord.” READ MORE HERE

POLICE SEARCHING FOR CHILD’S ATTACKER

Detectives have released new images of the man they believe broke a toddler’s collarbone in an unprovoked racist attack at a busy London station – and have appealed for help identifying him. The child’s mother also spoke for the first time about the terrifying incident, which took place in broad daylight as she got off a train with her son in a pushchair. INDIANAPOLIS – A self-confessed “sextortionist” from Indiana was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison and fined $70,000 for coercing more than a dozen teenagers into performing sex acts online. Richard Finkbiner, 40, admitted that he tricked the young people into stripping or performing sexual acts for him via webcam, then he used recordings of those sessions to coerce them into making yet more explicit videos. Finkbiner, of Brazil, Ind., agreed in January to plead guilty to child exploitation, extortion and possession of child pornography in exchange for a recommended sentence of 30 to 50 years in prison. OKLAHOMA CITY — In California, just six years ago, Nicholas Elizondo was convicted for raping his then six-year-old daughter. He took a deal and served six years in jail. During that time his ex-wife, Lisa Knight, has been raising their daughter Sarah in Norman. After six years of little contact with Sarah, he started fighting for sole custody. Yesterday, he won. Little Sarah’s family is shocked by the Oklahoma County judge’s decision. “Then he comes out with this solemn face and ‘Oh this is a really hard one for me’,” said Sarah’s cousin, Jodi Coomer. “And I`m thinking hard?” They thought it was a no-brainer.
