US Child Abuse Costs: $124B

Posted by Sandra On February - 2 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

https://adamkaygroup.com/uncategorized/bzk9yf2q The child abuse that takes place in one year in the United States will cost the nation $124 billion over the victims’ lifetimes, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The findings reveal the financial burden of child abuse is just as high or higher than that of costly health conditions, including Type 2 diabetes. “No child should ever be the victim of abuse or neglect — nor do they have to be. The human and financial costs can be prevented through prevention of child maltreatment,” said Linda C. Degutis, director of CDC?s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.  READ MORE HERE

Bill would make it a crime not to report child abuse

OLYMPIA—Should adults face jail time if they fail to report child abuse? Some state lawmakers think so, and want to make it a crime if people see it happening and don’t report it. They’re calling one of these proposals the Jerry Sandusky bill, named after the former Penn State assistant football coach accused of sexually abusing children on campus.  READ MORE HERE

National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

https://calif-ilc.org/54ybdq1h320 Today is national Human Trafficking Awareness Day, the annual calendar date meant to bring attention to the fact that human trafficking remains a serious problem both in the United States and abroad. According to Change.org, “Slavery is more affordable, more widespread and more entrenched in 2011 than it was in ancient Rome or the antebellum South of America. Modern-day slaves, also called human trafficking victims, can be male or female, from any country or representing any ethnicity.” In the United States, human trafficking victims are forced to work in the sex trade, as domestic servants, on farms and in factories.  READ MORE HERE

Child-On-Child Molestation

Cheap Clonazepam Usa NEW YORK — Recent high-profile cases of child sex abuse have roused national revulsion against the adults who perpetrated them. Rarely mentioned is the sobering statistic that more than one-third of the sexual abuse of America’s children is committed by other minors. For many of the therapists and attorneys who deal with them, these juvenile offenders pose a profoundly complicated challenge for the child-protection and criminal justice systems. It’s a diverse group that defies stereotypes, encompassing a minority of youths who represent a threat of long-term danger to others and a majority who are responsive to treatment and unlikely to re-offend.  READ MORE HERE

US Redefines Rape: Includes Men

Posted by Sandra On January - 6 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration on Friday expanded the FBI‘s more than eight-decade-old definition of rape to count men as victims for the first time and to drop the requirement that victims must have physically resisted their attackers. The new definition will increase the number of people counted as rape victims in FBI statistics, but it will not change federal or state laws or alter charges or prosecutions. It’s an important shift because lawmakers and policymakers use crime statistics to allocate money and other resources for prevention and victim assistance.

Ambien Cheap “Breaking the Silence on Child Abuse: Protection, Prevention, Intervention, and Deterrence”

On December 13, I had the honor of participating in an important moment for the child advocacy field. As one of six panelists to testify in front of the United States Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP), Subcommittee on Children and Families, I joined my fellow child abuse intervention experts in shining a light on issues surrounding child sexual abuse in our country. The purpose of the hearing, titled “Breaking the Silence on Child Abuse: Protection, Prevention, Intervention, and Deterrence,” was to examine how well our federal laws, such as the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, are working to protect our nation’s children from abuse and neglect. The hearing also examined related issues, including the prevalence of child sexual abuse committed by adults in entrusted organizations, the effect abuse has on children and their families, why adults may fail to report known or suspected abuse, and local and state efforts aimed at protecting, preventing, intervening, and deterring child abuse.  READ MORE HERE

Pedophiles can be anyone — old or young, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, non-professional or professional, and of any race. However, pedophiles often demonstrate similar characteristics, but these are merely indicators and it should not be assumed that individuals with these characteristics are pedophiles. But knowledge of these characteristics coupled with questionable behavior can be used as an alert that someone may be a pedophile.  READ MORE HERE
