Kimberly Taschler (left) of Palmerton has been sentenced to up to 3 1/2 years in state prison for the starving death of her daughter. Jacob Taschler (right) will spend up to 2-years in prison for his role in the death.
The baby sat alone for 16 hours in a hot third-floor room, strapped in a car seat in front of a TV with no food or water and wearing the same dirty diaper. Before baby Kayla died of dehydration and starvation, she likely screamed, squirmed and cried out for help. Her mother, Kimberly Ann Taschler, was two floors down in their Palmerton home smoking marijuana.
