Georgia couple gets 40 years in child abuse case
https://www.clawscustomboxes.com/yjjzgrq7rd WATKINSVILLE, Ga. — A judge in Oconee County sentenced a couple who kept the woman’s son locked in a closet to 40 years apiece in prison and called it the worst case involving child abuse he’d handled in a dozen years.
Superior Court Judge Steve Jones sentenced 36-year-old Damita Devonna Peak and 39-year-old Norris Lazarus Walker on Thursday after a jury convicted them of false imprisonment, child cruelty and battery. They were acquitted of aggravated assault charges.
