Florida’s Deadly Toll Of Abuse
The annual report compiled by the Florida Child Abuse Death Review Committee is always grim reading. But the information is important. The committee’s scope does not include all child fatalities in Florida — just those reported to the state abuse hotline and verified as maltreatment, including neglect and abuse. Nearly 200 cases met those parameters in 2009 (the latest available figures).
