Anorexic-looking 6-yr-old boy found in attic

Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies found a malnourished 6-year-old boy in an attic Tuesday night, hours after his 26-year-old mother, Rachel L. Perez, was arrested.

A relative was worried about the boy, so deputies did a welfare check at a De Soto home in the 8200 block of Center Drive Tuesday evening around 5. The boy’s mother claimed he wasn’t home, and deputies arrested her on an outstanding warrant.
