Randy Gardner pled guilty to second-degree murder and was sentence to 30-60 years imprisonment for the death of his nephew, 4 year old Robert Byrd, who he handcuffed, withheld food, and regularly beat. According to Daily Mail, Byrd died last May of starvation and neglect, and was found weighing only 21 pounds – half of the average weight for a 4 year old boy- and with skin erosions and bruises on 90 percent of his body.
