TEXAS – A daycare worker has been arrested for taking sexually explicit pictures of a child that she worked with and distributing the disturbing images online. Christina Cortez, 38, was arrested for child pornography after she allegedly took indecent pictures of at least one child at the Coastal Bend Child Care, Corpus Christi, Texas. Cortez, was taken in by federal agents following a widespread investigation which uncovered the child abuse and left the parents of the children who attend the daycare upset and angry.  READ MORE HERE

STAMFORD — With another possible suspect still at large, one man will go to jail in a case where an infant was raped and died. Judge Gary White sentenced 25-year-old Osvaldo Romero on Monday to 14-years in prison for first-degree manslaughter. Romero also got a decade for risk of injury to a minor, though the sentences will run concurrently. White also ordered Romero to serve six-years of special parole following his release. A Camp Lejeune Marine is in jail, accused of raping a 12-year-old girl. Deputies say Master Sgt. Tyson Spencer of Jacksonville was arrested Wednesday afternoon. The 37-year-old is charged with first degree rape of a child, first degree sex offense with a child, two counts of indecent liberties with a child, and two counts of felony child abuse involving a sexual act. ALABAMA – A young girl was found dead outside her home on Monday morning. Jettie Ray Adams, 3, of Trafford, Alabama, died as a result of severe internal injuries and was found in a poll of her own vomit when medical personnel arrived on the scene. Her death has now been ruled a homicide, and the girl’s mother, Misty Lynn Wright, and her mother’s boyfriend, Johnathon Wayne Talley, have been arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse with severe injuries. Those charges are expected to soon be upgraded to capital murder. Woman killed father & daughter, hid bodies in shed

A Florida woman allegedly killed her father and 6-year-old daughter and placed their dead bodies inside of a neighbor’s shed. On August 1, Cheyanne Jessie contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office to report that her 50-year-old father and 6-year-old daughter had been missing since July 18, police said in a news release.  Jessie, 25, told detectives she had left her child in her father’s care and had received a text message from him saying he had a terminal illness and had less than a year to live. A fifth police force has received allegations against Sir Edward Heath, the former prime minister at the centre of historical child sex claims. It was known that detectives in Wiltshire, London, Kent and Jersey were looking at sex abuse allegations linked to the late politician. Last night Hampshire confirmed that it was investigating claims. The force said: “We are investigating allegations, we have nothing further to add at this stage. “Please call the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 or email help@nspcc.org.uk as they have dedicated staff in place to deal with victims or if you have information that may help police please call us via 101.” Sir Edward had already been named in connection with inquiries in London, Kent and Jersey. BEIJING – Police are searching for the mother of a newborn baby girl found wedged face-down and alive in a Beijing toilet on Sunday. A migrant construction worker from eastern China heard his neighbors calling for help. He followed police into the toilet, pulled out his phone and started recording. “Her head was upside down and her body was falling into the drain. We could only vaguely see her feet from the side,” Qian Feng, the local police chief, told the Beijing Times. Qian said initially police decided to dismantle the toilet as the drain structure was unclear, but that would take too long. Tonya Hughes was just shy of her 21st birthday on a spring day in 1990 when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Oklahoma City. She died five days later, but the investigation into her suspicious death led to a mystery—and a murder—that took decades to fully unravel. That’s because Tonya Hughes was not who anyone thought she was—and neither was her husband, Clarence Hughes, who now sits on death row in a Florida prison.

“The FBI has been chipping away at this one,” said Special Agent Scott Lobb, who began working the cold case investigation in 2013 out of the Bureau’s Oklahoma City Division. “There were a lot of peculiar twists to this case.” Tonya left behind a child, Michael Hughes. Her husband claimed he was Michael’s biological father, but shortly after Tonya died, Clarence gave Michael to Oklahoma state welfare officials and promptly disappeared. “He knew the truth would come out,” Lobb said, “and so he fled.” READ MORE HERE
