The shooter was left dead. A hospital said that the two boys arrived in critical condition. One was later upgraded to fair. Kyle Nucum, a student, told the Reno Gazette-Journal newspaper that he heard “a pop, like a loud pop, and everybody was screaming.” He said the shooter was wearing a Sparks Middle School uniform, and shot the teacher after the teacher told him to put the gun down. article-2468881-18DD867F00000578-538_634x838One of the most famous child actors from the 1980s has opened up about sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of older men in Hollywood and how his friendship with Michael Jackson was the healthiest relationship he had. In a new book, Coreyography, Corey Feldman, from hit movies ‘Stand By Me,’ ‘The Lost Boys,’ ‘Gremlins’ and ‘The Goonies,’ recalls his often twisted friendship with fellow child star Corey Haim and how the pair were told by trusted adults that it was normal for older men and young boys to have sexual relations in the industry. Feldman explains his family life wasn’t happy: his former Playboy model mother dyed his hair blonde at age four and tortured him about his weight, force-feeding him diet pills. Meanwhile, his father only seemed to care about him when they were getting high together, he writes. READ MORE HERE

Greece Trying to Identify Girl Found in Roma Gypsy Camp

1379736_514061832018942_1528711798_nGreek authorities launched an international appeal on Friday to help identify a 4-year-old blonde girl allegedly snatched from her parents by a couple with whom she was found living in a Gypsy settlement. Police are trying to establish why the girl was living with the couple, who are also accused of falsifying identity and family certificates — with the mother claiming to have given birth to six children within a total of less than 10 months. The child was found Wednesday near Farsala in central Greece during a nationwide crackdown on illegal activities by Roma, also known as Gypsies. Police say they also found drugs and unregistered firearms in other parts of the settlement, which is about 280 kilometers (170 miles) north of Athens. READ MORE HERE

Afraid the nuns would hear the newborn’s cries and discover she lied about sexual activity, police say Amoa told investigators she smothered him. A day later she and a nun took his body to a hospital. READ MORE HERE

2-year old Savannah Cross was stomped to death by daycare providers

Savannah CrossA Maricopa County judge dismissed murder and child-abuse charges against a couple indicted in the death of a 2-year-old girl left in their care after prosecutors failed to produce crucial forensic reports related to the fatality. The dismissal left prosecutors a chance to refile the charges at a later date, and the victim’s family is confident that they will. Savannah Cross died in December after she was taken to the hospital with bruises from head to toe. The 2-year-old girl was living with baby-sitters Ryan Alan Reed, 27, and Allison Ann Clement, 28, who were arrested hours later. READ MORE HERE

Orphan Pleads to be Adopted

Orphan goes to church and asks someone, anyone to adopt him

1016_NCLO_Orphan1_t607ST. PETERSBURG — As soon as they pulled into the church lot, Davion changed his mind. ”Miss! Hey, Miss!” he called to his caseworker, who was driving. “I don’t want to do this anymore.” In the back seat, he hugged the Bible someone had given him at the foster home. “You’re going to be great,” Connie Going said. Outside St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, she straightened his tie. Like his too-big black suit, the white tie had been donated. It zipped up around the neck, which helped. No one had ever taught Davion, 15, how to tie one. READ MORE HERE

Reporting child abuse in your home or in a custody situation:

  1. Stay CALM. Do not let your emotions dictate your actions, and do not vent your emotions onto the people who are assigned to investigate your case (CPS, law enforcement officers, etc.).
  2. IF THIS IS AN EMERGENCY: Call 911 or your local police.
  3. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING from this point forward, including times, dates, and places. KEEP all documents from all professionals who have an opinion about the child abuse. This includes therapists, doctors, policemen, and teachers. If a professional informs you that they have an opinion or a suspicion of child abuse, have them document that suspicion, preferably in the form of an affidavit. Be sure to get a copy of any opinions from professionals regarding your child’s case.
  4. HAVE YOUR CHILD EVALUATED. Talk to medical and psychology professionals. If possible, have your child evaluated at a Child Assessment Center.
  5. BEGIN INVESTIGATION. Talk to law enforcement officers to initiate an investigation into the allegation of child abuse. Any reasonable belief of abuse or neglect should be reported to the police. If you have been too afraid to voice allegations in the past, let them know. If you have previously reported abuse, communicate the fact that you are trying to protect the child from further harm
  6. TALK TO CPS. If the abuse is not criminal, talk to CPS to initiate an investigation into the allegation of child abuse.
  7. GET AN ATTORNEY. Get an attorney and start proceedings to gain full custody of your child and terminate the abuser’s parental rights.
  8. CALL JUSTICE FOR CHILDREN. If you encounter a problem with completing steps 3-6, call JFC at 1-800-733-0059. Office hours are M-F 8-5 pm Central Standard Time.
