NEW DELHI: Delhi government on Monday approved a comprehensive compensation scheme for victims of rape, acid attacks, human trafficking, child abuse and kidnapping. It has decided to set aside Rs 15 crore, to begin with, for the scheme that was formulated by the Union home ministry. According to the provisions of the scheme a rape victim will get compensation of Rs 2-3 lakh within two months of the crime. In case of death, a maximum compensation of Rs 5 lakh and a minimum of Rs 3 lakh will be given to the family of the victim.  READ MORE HERE

Man Faces 642 Sex, Assault Charges Involving 3 Girls

A Tennessee man, formerly of Mercer County, has been arrested on more than 600 different counts of child rape and abuse charges of three young girls in Mercer County.  Michael David Lewis, 40, was arrested by the FBI near Nashville, Tenn., last week. The alleged assaults happened over three years beginning in 2009. The victims were just 9, 10, and 12 years old when the abuse began.  Pennsylvania State Police started an investigation after two of the girls came forward about a month ago. READ MORE HERE

LIVERPOOL– A ‘vulnerable’ young girl questioned by police investigating the Rochdale child sex ring has lifted the lid on a second gang operating in the area, it emerged last night. The teenager has told officers she was abused by a different group of men from the nine  jailed last week over the sexual exploitation of girls as young as 13. Palm Coast, FL – Kamil Mezalka, a 21-year old child pornography suspect was jailed Tuesday after police stormed his residence and found him in his underwear, stabbing his computer with Samurai sword. WARREN, MI – A 50-year-old Warren man is facing federal child pornography charges after FBI agents found thousands of pictures and videos that can only be described as horrifying on his hard drive. DETROIT, MI – The initial test results of rape kits that went untested for decades show that some attackers have escaped prosecution for more years and have reoffended. A rape kit contains evidence collected from a victim to help arrest and prosecute their attacker. When the former Detroit crime lab was shut down in 2008, Michigan State Police found a stock pile of 11,000 untested rape kits.  These sex crimes went unsolved for almost 30 years. READ MORE HERE

Tucson, AZ police are winding down their search for a 6-year-old girl who has been missing since Saturday, April 21, 2012. Police Chief Roberto Villasenor said Tuesday that law enforcement expect to wrap up their intensive search for Isabel Mercedes Celis and concentrate on the investigative phase. Villasenor says more than 20 officers will work throughout the night in the neighborhood surrounding the girl’s home. Man Pleads Guilty to Killing, Dismembering 9-year-old Girl

FORT WAYNE, Indiana — An Indiana man plead guilty Friday to killing and dismembering a 9-year-old girl three days before Christmas. Michael L. Plumadore, 39, also pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse and removing a dead body from the scene in the Dec. 22 death of Aliahna Maroney-Lemmon at a Fort Wayne trailer park.
