Cell phones are not just for teenaged children any more. Nearly six out of 10 (56 percent) parents of “tweeners” (children aged 8-12) have provided their children with cell phones, according to a new survey conducted by ORC International for the National Consumers League (NCL), the nation’s oldest consumer organization. Of those parents, roughly a quarter are facing higher bills than they had expected to pay in order for their child to have a cell phone. The father of a ten-year-old girl who died after being locked in a small box in the baking heat as punishment for taking a Popsicle has been arrested – making it the sixth arrest in the horrific child murder case. David Deal, 52, from Arizona, was arrested on Monday afternoon on suspicion of felony child abuse on his daughter Ame Deal, who suffocated to death almost a year ago on July 12. A 67-year-old man tearfully confessed to sexually abusing three little girls in a surprising turn of events. Barry McOwen, of Upper Salford, Pennsylvania, shockingly took the witness stand before testimony began on the second day of his trial.  During his confession, McOwen read from a prepared statement that he pleaded guilty to the charges of rape of a child, sexual abuse, and dissemination and possession of child pornography. PALOS VERDES — A high speed pursuit involving an LAUSD teacher suspected of a lewd act ended when the man’s car went airborne and crashed into a tree, authorities say. It all started just after 12:30 when detectives, who had been watching the man’s home, approached the suspect’s pick-up. Only yesterday, humans who preyed on children hid in the shadows. It seemed everyone wanted children to “come forward and tell.”  Today, that’s all changed…we now KNOW where these pedophiles are located.  This law enforcement map–introduced as evidence in Congressional hearings—shows 100s of 1,000s of criminals trafficking in child abuse images. At least 1 in 3 is a hands-on abuser! Most will continue to hurt children unless we force our government to act.

The days when sexual predators were hiding in the shadows–when we had to rely upon children to come forward and disclose what was happening–are over. Authorities KNOW where they are, right now.  Adults who are sexually attracted to children (and willing to act upon that interest) have given up their locations to law enforcement by going online and trafficking in child rape video and photos (child pornography). But 98-99% of these *known* predators will never even be investigated, because law enforcement has been starved of the resources it needs to go get them.

So now, in 2012, we are faced with a big question. Now that we finally have the technology to detect child sexual abuse on a massive scale, and the means to interdict it, will we use it? Most of the “child advocacy” world is silent. The news media is silent. Congressional leaders refuse to take action. State level politicians ignore it as well, preferring to spend their time on gimmicks that get media coverage.

But the map is evidence.

Each dot is the approximate location of a computer or cluster of computers (many explode like fireworks when clicked on in Google Earth) that was seen by law enforcement trafficking in the worst known images of child abuse. The computers were identified by GUID (a unique serial number), not by IP addresses, which often change. It represents a very conservative subset of all traffickers. The ICAC task forces identified 300,000 in the U.S. in 2008 and entered them into a database supported and endorsed by the U.S. Department of Justice. Imagine if DOJ had such a database of foreign terrorists like that and was caught ignoring them as they continued to commit crimes on U.S. soil.

BABY SURVIVED; PARENTS ARRESTED

18-year-old Andre McCollins was shocked 31 times by the staff at the Judge Rotenberg Center in Massachusetts, and video footage showing his experience has been released to the public for the first time. McCollins’ mother has brought a lawsuit against the Rotenberg Center for what she calls “torture” and “abuse.”

The Judge Rotenberg Center is a private school for children with physical and social disabilities. McCollins was a student at the time and had been asked to remove his jacket by staff from the Center. When he did not respond, he was subdued by several staff, and then strapped to a table.

What followed was agonizing for people in the courtroom to watch. Counselors at the Center administered 31 shocks over the next several hours, as McCollins screamed for help. Throughout the trial, the Center asked that the video footage of the incident not be released to the public, but yesterday the judge overseeing the trial ruled against them, and Fox News released the video.

“I never signed up for him to be tortured, terrorized, and abused,” McCollins’ mother said on the stand yesterday. “I had no idea— no idea— that they tortured the children in the school.” After the electro-shock, McCollins was left in a catatonic state, a stress-induced coma, according to authorities. “I couldn’t turn Andre’s head to the left or to the right. He was just staring straight,” McCollins’ mother said. “I took my hands and went like this (waving her hand in front of his face). He didn’t blink.”

Judge Rotenberg Center report – the horror is hard to read

MURPHY – The parents of several child abuse victims have filed a lawsuit against a school principal and the Plano school district accusing them of ignoring warnings about a sexual predator. Parents of three elementary students say administrators at Hunt Elementary in Murphy repeatedly dismissed concerns about kindergarten teacher Joseph Garbarini. Garbarini, 30, is currently serving a 62-year prison sentence after he was convicted of child sexual abuse last year. READ MORE HERE

The Kentucky Court of Appeals has denied a state cabinet’s request to prevent the release of hundreds of case files of children who died or nearly died as a result of abuse and neglect. GUILTY of 47 COUNTS OF MOLESTATION

A West Sacramento man has been sentenced to 335 years to life in prison after a Yolo County jury found him guilty of 47 counts of child molestation and five counts of possessing matter depicting sexual acts by a minor. My daughter occasionally goes on a hugging and kissing strike. She’s 4. Her parents could get a hug or a kiss, but many people who know her cannot, at least right now. And I won’t make her. “I would like you to hug Grandma, but I won’t make you do it,” I told her recently. “I don’t have to?” she asked, cuddling up to me at bedtime, confirming the facts to be sure. No, she doesn’t have to. And just to be clear, there is no passive-aggressive, conditional, manipulative nonsense behind my statement. I mean what I say. She doesn’t have to hug or kiss anyone just because I say so, not even me. SAN DIEGO — Four new felony counts, including torture, were filed Monday against a San Diego woman accused of abusing her 9-year-old daughter over a 17-month period, resulting in the girl’s death. Crystal Cardenas, 26, was previously charged with murder in connection with the Jan. 17, 2011, death of Elizabeth Holloway.
