DETROIT — Two teenagers from Westland have been missing since Sunday night.  As worried family members search for clues, Crime Stoppers is ready to announce a big reward for their safe return. Minutes before we showed up at his east side residence Wednesday, Detroit Police questioned Jake Kudla’s uncle.  We asked him why he was questioned. “Because I’m Jake’s uncle, and I’m the last one to see him.” 18-year-old Jake Kudla and his 17-year-old friend, Jourdan Bobbish, were at the uncle’s home Sunday night, never to be seen or heard from again.  READ MORE HERE

Students react to “Teacher Of Year” sex abuse arrest

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — By all accounts the 26-year-old was great in the classroom. But a boy younger than 12 tells JSO investigators shocking details about what allegedly took place at Bacca’s apartment on St. Johns Avenue in Avondale. They include tales of showering with the teacher, touching, and oral sex on an overnight stay at Bacca’s home.  Police arrested Bacca Tuesday afternoon shortly after questioning him at JSO Headquarters. Rapist gets life — but he’s missing

SAN ANTONIO — A jury sentenced a San Antonio man to life imprisonment without parole for raping two young girls – only he failed to show up for the sentencing. The San Antonio Express-News  reports the Bexar (BAYR) County jury deliberated less than 15 minutes Tuesday before sentencing 31-year-old Anselmo Rodriguez. But county bond officer David Reyes says Rodriguez cut off his GPS ankle monitor Monday night and hasn’t been seen since.  READ MORE HERE

Bullitt County authorities investigate boy, 2, with fractured skull

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. – A former police officer found himself facing charges after police in Bullitt County said he severely beat his girlfriend’s young son. Authorities in Bullitt County have been investigating the case for weeks. They said the 2-year-old boy was beaten so badly that his skull was fractured. “We mostly look for the outward signs, which are the bruising, any marks that shouldn’t appear on the child,” said Lettisha Coleman, of Today’s Kids Daycare. For the staff at Today’s Kids Daycare, keeping a close eye on the children parents ask them to watch means noticing what others could overlook. Predatory pedophile Bruce Roth, 46, would sneak into the dormitory of £30,000-a-year Wellington College to molest his victims as they slept. FANTASIZED ABOUT “EATING CHILDREN”

TAMPA –A puppeteer who has entertained children for years around the Tampa area had a sickening secret, according to a federal complaint.  Ron Brown collected pornographic images of children and fantasized about strangling, dismembering and cannibalizing children, court documents state. The 57-year-old Largo man is under arrest in the Pinellas County Jail, facing federal charges of conspiring to kidnap a child and possession of child pornography.  READ MORE HERE

In 1977, Portland police questioned Jeffrey P. Cutlip in the death of a 15-year-old Milwaukie girl found dead in Johnson Creek after a trip to a local store.  Cutlip, then 27, said he had walked the girl, Julie Marie Bennett, back to Johnson Creek Park, after buying beer and cigarettes at the market. He then headed home, he told police.  Thirty-five years later, Cutlip, 63, suddenly confessed to Bennett’s killing, as well as the strangulation death two years earlier of a 44-year-old Portland woman, police said. Balfour Gets 3 Life Sentences in Hudson Family Murders

CHICAGO, Illinois — William Balfour, who was convicted by a Cook County jury in May in the 2008 murders of singer Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Judge Charles Burns imposed three consecutive life sentences for the murders and 120 years for the underlying felonies of home invasion and aggravated kidnapping. An emotional Burns told Balfour his crimes “send a chill through all of us” and said Balfour’s “soul is as barren as dark space.”  READ MORE HERE

Child sexual abuse is a difficult thing to define. While an adult having contact with a child is easily defined as abuse, especially if that adult is related to the child, more difficult issues come into play when the perpetrator is another child in the family, especially when the child is 10 years old or younger. Cantwell (1988) reported several cases investigated in Denver in which children under the age of 10 years were molesting younger peers, sometimes siblings or cousins and sometimes unrelated children, in a variety of settings including multi-family households, school buses, and neighborhood children’s homes. Parents may interpret this behavior at times as normal child sexual curiosity, or may spank the children to halt this behavior. Often in these cases, the child perpetrators were abused themselves at a young age, but, due to the shock experienced on discovery of the abuse and the focus on the “victim,” they did not receive services and their own history of abuse was not discovered until later.  READ MORE HERE
