A one-month-old baby boy who was allegedly raped and battered so badly that his heart stopped has made a remarkable recovery. The tiny child was beaten viciously, leaving both his lungs punctured, and all his ribs were broken along with his collar bone and arm. MEXICO CITY — Investigators say four women are being held in the western Mexican city of Guadalajara in connection with an apparent child-trafficking ring that aimed to supply babies to childless Irish couples. Island Lake, Illinois – Brandon Stancliff and Lauri Ruble have been jailed after they allegedly brought a 5-year-old child along to a bank robbery. According to police, the couple was arrested after an informant seeking a reward provided a tip to police that identified the couple as suspects in a bank robbery that occurred last month. Investigators say Lauri Ruble admitted to the robbery and expressed regret over bringing her 5-year-old son along. READ MORE HERE

Belgian: 3 Bishop’s Offices Raided In Child Abuse Investigation

BRUSSELS — Belgian authorities on Monday raided three bishops’ administrative offices as an official said investigators were nearing the end of a two-year probe into whether church officials protected child abusers at the expense of their victims. Belgian Catholic Church spokesman Geert Lesage said the offices in the Hasselt, Mechelen and Antwerp cooperated during the raids and handed over requested files as much as possible.  READ MORE HERE

Child abuse, neglect deaths in Lee County on the rise

The trend runs contrary to figures in Southwest Florida and throughout the state.

After mopping the floors one morning just over a year ago, a Hendry County mother of five left the bucket of water in the garage, out of reach of her 1-year-old daughter. When the older children came home from school, she asked her 8-year-old to watch the baby as she cleaned. Maybe 10 minutes later, she checked in. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa revealed a painful childhood secret in an interview with CBS2 on Monday. Villaraigosa, who has long been an advocate for victims of domestic violence, told CBS2 that some of his earliest memories include hiding under the bed with his little sister while his father was attacking his mother. “We had to witness the terror that comes with watching your mom getting beat,” said Villaraigosa. Though he was under five years old when the abuse would happen, he had always harbored a feelings of guilt that he wasn’t able to protect his mother from violence. “Deep inside was this feeling of helplessness, that I kind of failed her,” Villaraigosa said.  READ MORE HERE

Former Marine Tossed Son Overboard When He Wouldn’t Stop Crying

A drunken father who tossed his seven-year-old son overboard in a busy California harbour, forcing another boat to veer to avoid hitting the boy, has been sentenced to rehab. Thirty-five-year-old Sloan Briles, a former Marine from Irvine, avoided jail by pleading guilty on Monday to felony child abuse and endangerment. He was sentenced to three years of probation, one year in a treatment program for child abusers and six months in a residential alcohol-treatment program run by the Veterans Administration.  READ MORE HERE

  • Experts said he could have lain dead in his cot for up to eight months
  • She willfully ill-treated and neglected her son, left him alone and failed to feed him

A woman who murdered her toddler son and left his body in a cot for so long it ‘mummified’ was today jailed for a minimum of 15 years. Kimberley Hainey, 37, was found guilty by a majority verdict last month of murdering her son Declan at a flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire. His decomposing body was found in a cot in March 2010 – eight months after he was last seen. Hainey was also convicted of failing to report Declan’s death to police or other authorities and of concealing his body at the flat. At the High Court in Glasgow, she was handed a life sentence and told she will spend a minimum of 15 years behind bars.  READ MORE HERE

A 65-year-old woman is accused of physically abusing twin infants earlier this week in the Lincoln Park neighborhood after a “nanny cam’’ filmed it, police said.  Alice Vesely was booked into Cook County Jail Thursday after a judge set her bail at $300,000, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office. Vesely, 65, of the 2700 block of Fitch Avenue, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a child, police said. READ MORE HERE

ALBERTVILLE, Alabama — An Albertville couple charged with aggravated child abuse earlier this week will be facing more serious charges later today after their baby died.
Bridgett Duncan, 24, of 306 Katherine Drive and her boyfriend Immanuel Gage Allen, 17, of 132 Denise Circle, were arrested early Wednesday morning after deputies and ambulance personnel were dispatched to Denise Circle on a non-responsive child call.  READ MORE HERE

Man Charged In GF’s Baby’s Death

Virginia Beach-based sailor has been charged with felony child abuse and neglect in the death of a 4-month-old baby, police said Friday. Master-at-Arms Seaman Micah James Patterson, 22, of Seymour, Mo., was arrested and charged Thursday. He is being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center. Patterson enlisted on Sept. 27, 2007, and has been assigned to the Public Safety Staff at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story since Nov. 25, according to Navy Personnel Command.  READ MORE HERE

Catholic Priest Admits to 280 Counts Child Sexual Assault

A Roman Catholic priest in Germany has admitted to 280 counts of sexually abusing three boys over a several-year period. The 46-year-old priest, who has been suspended, went on trial Thursday at the state court in Braunschweig. The dapd news agency reported that he showed no remorse.The man who was not identified was arrested last July after one victim told his mother what had happened. TUCSON – A 23-year-old Tucson mother has been arrested for allegedly abusing her 1-year-old and 3-year-old children. Paramedics responded to the home of 23-year-old Kiyana Higgins Thursday on a 911 call regarding a child having seizures. When they arrived, a 1-year-old girl was unresponsive.
