Campaign to catch evil warlord Kony goes viral

A video created to raise awareness about vile militia leader Joseph Kony has now racked up more than 26million views since being posted on YouTube on March 5, and is being backed by a host of celebrities. Kony is the leader of Ugandan military group the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and is wanted for committing crimes against humanity including rape, abduction and murder. For 26 years his rebel group has systematically kidnapped more than 30,000 African children — forcing girls to become sex slaves, brainwashing boys into becoming child soldiers and brutally killing those who don’t comply. Now American activist group Invisible Children has created the half hour video, Kony 2012, in a bid to bring the dictator to justice.  READ MORE HERE

As more and more cases of sexual child abuse come to surface through the media, one well known figure is stepping up to reveal that he, too, was sexually abused as a child. Sugar Ray Leonard, an Olympic gold medalist in boxing, has written a book and spoke for the first time publicly about his abuse Wednesday in Omaha. LAUREL — A 30-year-old woman has been charged in connection with child abuse. Lt. Jerome Jackson with the Laurel Police Department said Serita K. Jones, 30, of Laurel, has been arrested in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on Feb. 25th. Jackson said the Laurel Police Department began investigating the case on Monday, Feb. 27th, when it received a report from a neighbor.  READ MORE HERE

When Satara Stratton moved to Los Angeles from Chattanooga, Tenn., last June she was looking for fame. Now police are looking for her because she has been reportedly missing since October 25. Stratton — who used the stage name “Satara Silver” — came to Los Angeles to pursue acting, but other than a few small roles in indie films and a job at a Disney Store on Santa Monica Boulevard, her showbiz had yet to take flight. A former coach at a military school is facing a potential 100 years behind bars after being charged with multiple counts of molesting young boys. A grand jury indicted Louis ‘Skip’ ReVille, who taught summer camps at The Citadel military college in Charleston, South Carolina, on 22 counts of sexual abuse. However, prosecutor Scarlett Wilson said the college faces no criminal liability for not reporting a sexual abuse complaint against ReVille from his work at its summer camp. READ MORE HERE

LOS ANGELES — Are you ready for a little “pink slime” in your kids’ school lunches? Officially called “Lean Beef Trimmings,” the ammonia-treated ground beef is bright pink in color — thus the moniker “pink slime.” It consists of a ground-up beef scraps, cow connective tissues and other beef trimmings. The meat is treated with ammonium hydroxide to kill bacteria, and then blended into traditional meat products, like hamburger patties. What will Lily’s legacy be?

The trial surrounding the death of 2-year-old Lily Wolfenbarger-Furneaux and the murder conviction of 30-year-old Renee King began in November 2010, but the Furneaux family was in court for years before Lily was killed. Lauren Furneaux, Lily’s mother, said she and her family have spent the last three years dealing with the court system because of the murder trial and custody hearings. “This is the first time we’ve actually seen justice,” she said on Feb. 27, the day King was convicted of felony murder, child abuse and sexual assault from the Nov. 20, 2010 death of Lily.  READ MORE HERE
